Asia's Biggest Film Studio to Be Built in Busan

Busan is to become home to the biggest film studio in Asia.

City officials on Tuesday signed an agreement with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Korean Film Council, and the Gijang regional government.

The studio will be built on 249,400 sq.m of land in Gijang. It will cost W66 billion, with construction starting next year and finishing around June 2020 (US$1=W1,154).

The Busan city government said it is going to buy state-of-the-art facilities like digital post-production equipment for the studio.

The studio aims to attract Hollywood productions targeting the Asian market as well as domestic and regional filmmakers.
