Korea's carbon-cutting goal is big

Source | 2015/07/04 | | Permalink

The government decided to set a higher carbon reduction goal than previously proposed.

The government said it will reduce 37 percent of estimated greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, which is about 314.7 million tons.

The new goal was confirmed Tuesday at a cabinet meeting presided over by Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn, and was submitted to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) on the same day...More

[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Orange Marmalade" Episode 9

The Joseon portion of "Orange Marmalade" finally comes to an end- and leaves me about as perplexed as ever. The main problem is just one of scale. The high school portion was just a romance- not even a particularly well-developed romance, since so much of the screentime was dedicated to worldbuilding. Whereas the Joseon portion apparently concerns some extremely important political events that directed the entire future of vampire / human relations. The final episode itself was anticlimactic and had a few too many bow-tied plot threads, but it was effective for its purpose...More

[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Heard It Through the Grapevine" Episode 29

2015/07/03 | | Permalink

The corruption of Jung-ho continues even though it results in losing the people in his life. His continued ignorance of his social situation makes him more pitiable than detestable. While he suffers as his world falls apart, In-sang struggles to acclimate to life away from his father's protective monetary comfort. The episode highlights the differences between those who pluck up the courage and try to change and those who refuse to change out of fear.

In-sang chooses a new life situation where he must learn to adapt...More
