Asian Film Market and Marché du Film Join Forces

The Pusan International Film Festival (PIFF)'s Asian Film Market and Cannes' Marché du Film have finalized an agreement to cooperate in online networking this year. The pact includes building an independent catalogue consisting of information on Asian Film Market 2009 participants and films in Cinando, the online film business database powered by the Marché du Film.

Mr. Kim Dong-ho, PIFF festival director and Mr. Jérôme PAILLARD, director general of Marché du Film, initiated the agreement in Cannes and concluded it this month. In a joint statement they said, "we are very proud to draw up this agreement based upon mutual respect between Pusan and Cannes and expect this will reinforce a long time partnership between the two markets in the future".

Under this agreement, participants of the Asian Film Market will be able to further facilitate and their business needs and enhance exposure, while the 25,000 members of Cinando, the leading industry database run by the Cannes Film Festival, will enjoy enriched content as the database is updated with Asian Film Market trends.

A provision also included in the agreement will grant Asian Film Market 2009 participants one year free access to Cinando, allowing them to use the entire database all year round.

Asian Film Market 2009, set to run Oct. 11 -14, has just begun taking registrations at its official website http://www.asianfilmmarket.org . A newly adopted early bird policy which discounts sales office prices up to 30% can be taken advantage of until the end of July.
