Bae Yong-joon's latest film invited to Spain film festival August 14, 2005

South Korean movie star Bae Yong-joon's long-awaited film "April Snow" has been invited to Spain's 53rd San Sebastian International Film Festival, according to the film promoters.

Promoters of the film, also starring actress Son Ye-jin, said the movie will be screened during the 10-day festival in Donostia-San Sebastian in northern Spain on Sept. 15.

They added that "April Snow" has already been invited to many international film festivals, but due to the timing of its release next month, producers gave the Spanish festival the right to show the film first to the international audience.

"April Snow", directed by Heo Jin-ho, is a Sad Love Story about a man and a woman who find themselves drawn to each other after being betrayed by their spouses. Bae, a prominent star in Asia, particularly in Japan, has acquired a large fan base for his role in the TV drama "Winter Sonata".

The latest film has drawn considerable interest during its shooting, attracting overseas spectators to locations such as Samcheok on South Korea's east coast. The film is scheduled to be released simultaneously in eight Asian countries, including Japan and Malaysia, in September.

Other films that will make their debut at the Spanish festival include British film "Tideland" and the Chinese film "Sunflower".
