Birth Rate Among Married Women In Seoul At 1.02, Lowest In Country

Korea has one of the lowest birth rates in the world -- and it looks like married women in the nation's capital are having fewer babies than those in the rest of the country.
A new report from the Women Family Foundation shows that married women in Seoul had an average of 1.0-2 births per woman in 2010.
The figure is the lowest in the country as the national average stands at 1.2-3 births.
However, the low birth rate in Seoul does not mean that women living in the capital don't want to have kids.
In a separate survey, Seoul women who've tied the knot answered that they want to have an average of 1.9-6 kids.
Seoul city officials say that the low birth rate amongst women in Seoul might be because the government only supports lower income families for fertility treatments.
