The formality of Korean blockbuster movies is breaking up.

It starts off with Hyun Bin. With the release of "The King's Wrath" in April, other movies such as Son Ye-jin's "Pirates" and other blockbusters fill up the line. These blockbusters cost more than 10 billion won each and the atmosphere seems completely different from that of movies that usually come out into the open in July ~ August.

"The King's Wrath" is coming out on the 30th of April. It's declaring pre-occupancy in spring. This is Hyun Bin's first comeback film since his duty in the Marines and he acts out the role of a young king in the Chosun Times.

Ryu Seung-ryong, Jang Dong-gun, Ha Jung-woo, Gang Dong-won and Choi Min-sik all come along with films of their own. Ryu Seung-ryong stars in the action movie "The Target" which is released in May and Jang Dong-gun stars in the movie "The Crying Man" directed by Lee Jeong-beom from "The Man From Nowhere" in June. It is unusual for action blockbusters to be released in May ~ June.

In July and August come Ha Jung-woo and Gang Dong-won's "KUNDO : Age of the Rampant" Choi Min-sik's "Battle of Myeongryang" and Son Ye-jin and Kim Nam-gil's "Pirates".

As Korean movies endlessly release this coming spring and summer, it looks like Hollywood blockbusters are eyeing the right time to release its own movies. Sony Pictures "Amazing Spiderman 2" was set to be released on the same day as "The King's Wrath" but pulled it one week forward to avoid any discomfort.
