Busan has begun its leap towards becoming Asia's hub city in visual culture.
A report showed that Busan is earnestly intent on building a world-class infrastructure in its bid to become Asia's hub in visual culture. The city has on-going projects, such as the Busan Image Center, post-production facilities and Film Experience Museum, and it is also promoting the establishment of the Busan Cultural Content Complex in Centum City.
The Busan Image Center's 'Dureraum' is a six-story (with one underground basement level) building to be exclusively used for the Busan International Film Festival. Its basic and construction design will be completed by the end of August based on the confirmed construction design plan, whereas actual construction will begin in October to coincide with the schedule of the Busan International Film Festival.
The building and developing/editing facilities, post-production facilities, such as film developing, editing, CG, sound recording, and D-Cinema Center will see completion in October, whereas the whole facility will be complete in 2011. The Busan Cultural Content Complex in Centum City is planned to be completed also in 2011. The complex will be home to companies, co-production center and human resources training centers.
Aside from infrastructure establishment, Busan City is providing support to leading companies in the image industry, the Busan Game Academy, Cultural Content Star Project, Busan Cultural Industry Research Center as well as other projects in the film and image industries.
"Through the consistent infrastructure development and support in the image industry, we will strive to situate Busan to become Asia's best city in the image culture".
