Busan calls for submissions to Ties That Bind

The Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) / Asian Project Market (APM) has made a call for submissions for the 2012Ties That Bind – Asia / Europe Producers Workshop. In its fourth edition, the workshop is held in partnership with EAVE, the Udine Fareast Film Festival, and Friuli Venezia Giulia (FVG) Audiovisual Fund.

Ties That Bind 2012 will consist of two workshops for ten selected film producers from Asian and European countries. The first workshop will be held April 22 – 26, within the framework of Italy's Udine Far East Film Festival which will run April 20 – 28. The second workshop will be held Oct. 8 – 11 during BIFF, which will run Oct 4 –13 in South Korea. (The Asian Film Market and APM will also run Oct. 8 – 11.)

Each Ties That Bind – Asia / Europe producer will be selected together with a feature film project in development and will work with leading industry experts from both continents during the two workshops. Sessions will focus on script development, co-production between Asia and Europe, financing in the two regions, marketing and promotion, and the legal aspects of co-production.

BIFF also noted that the 2009 APM (formerly known as PPP) project "Postcards From the Zoo" has been selected to the 62nd Berlin International Film Festival's official competition. "Postcards From the Zoo" is the second feature from Indonesian director Edwin, who was also one of the first students at BIFF's Asian Film Academy (AFA) in 2005. His feature debut "Blind Pig Who Wants to Fly"(2008) made its world premiere at theBusan film festival's New Currents competition as well.
