Director Moon Byung-gon awarded the Cannes Palme d'Or for short film

Director Moon Byung-gon was awarded the Palme d'Or at the 66th Cannes International Film Festival for the short film "Safe".

"Safe" was the only Korean movie in the competition at Cannes on the 26th and this is the first time in 14 years since the 1999 short film "Picnic" by Song Il-gon. Moon was once at the Cannes for the short film "Immortal Man".

Moon majored in filmology at Jungang University and directed "No More Coffee Break".

"Safe" is a film that reflects a modern day person through a girl who works at an illegal game site and a man who is an addict.

Meanwhile, the Palme d'Or for the feature film competition was given to a French director for his movie "Blue Is The Warmest Colour".
