Korean films have been gaining global attention overseas for the past few years, winning notable prizes in world-class film festivals in Cannes, Venice and other cities. Make the best of your stay in Korea with the 1st KAFA Film Debut Program scheduled for this coming weekend.
From May 8 to 10, Mirospace, a movie theater in Jongno-gu, Seoul, will screen four recently released Korean independent feature films with English subtitles.

Goh Tae-jeong depicts an encounter between a woman who needs her space and a woman who is afraid of such space.

Lee Suk-gyung is about a woman who encounters a fine day after a stormy divorce.

The Story of Mr. Sorry" by director
Kwak In-keun tells an interesting tale of a man whose career is wiping out other people's earwax. "
Members of the Funeral" by director
Baek Seung-bin depicts a family that has fallen apart.
The movies are independent films by young directors who graduated from the Korean Academy of Film Arts. The academy is where many talented Korean directors have studied.

BBB International Friends Day
Had enough of movie watching inside? Join the health walking event at Cheonggyecheon Plaza on Saturday, May 9. This is an annual event organized by BBB Campaign, otherwise known as the Before Babel Brigade, established to provide volunteer language assistance services to expats in Korea.
BBB so far provides 17 language-services through the telephone at no cost: 1588-5644.
The third BBB International Friends Day to boost friendship between expats and locals will be participated in by some 500 expats and diplomats, BBB volunteers and others, making up a total of 3,000 participants from 10 nations.
The event is also sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
According to this year's theme, experiencing and sharing traditional Korean culture, the participants will walk through 5.9 kilometers of downtown Seoul wearing "jip-sin" the traditional straw shoes and watch traditional performances later in the day.
