"Giant" retains No.1 spot on TV charts for 3 weeks

Drama "Giant" [SBS]

SBS' Monday and Tuesday series "Giant" continued to stand firm atop television charts during the final week of October, beating out its competitors in the primetime lineup, according to figures by research firm TNmS (Total National Multimedia Statistics).

TNmS' website on Wednesday showed that "Giant", starring actors Lee Beom-soo, Lee Duk-hwa and actress Park Jin-hee recorded an average viewership rating of 29.4 percent, inching up slightly from last week's 28.7 percent, to maintain its position for the third consecutive week.

The drama, set between the 1970s to 1980s, is about separated siblings caught up in a whirlwind of revenge and dark schemes of the business world.

KBS' "Sungkyunkwan Scandal", a fusion history drama set around the late 18th-century Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910) and starring actor Park Yoo-chun and actress Park Min-young, came in second once again with an average rating of 12.4 percent, a slight drop from the previous week's ratings that stood in the 13 to 14 percent range.

MBC's"Queen of Reversals" came last among Monday and Tuesday prime time series, collecting an average 8.8 percent rating this week. The drama which began last week stars actress Kim Nam-joo and actor Jung Joon-ho.

Statistics by AGB Nielson Media Research displayed similar results: average ratings of 28.1 percent for "Giant", 12.8 percent for "Sungkyunkwan Scandal" and 9.5 percent for "Queen of Reversals".
