Golden Era of Daughter in Law OST (KBS TV Drama)

A heartwarming family drama mixing twisted family ties with a dash of humor, Golden Era of Daughter in Law tackles one of Korea's favorite subjects: the love/hate relationship between a mother-in-law and a daughter-in-law. Complementing the drama's representation of the generation gap is its soundtrack, Golden Era of Daughter in Law OST, combining many different sounds into an eclectic and emotional collection of music.

With the drama's popularity came much anticipation for its soundtrack, in particular, Loving U (Track 7), a theme song frequently used for scenes that express the delicate emotional exchange between a young couple, In Woo and Bok Nam. The lyrics featured in the end credits song Meonuri Waal ("According To Daughter-in-law") (Track 9) satirize the relationship between a mother-in-law and a daughter-in-law, and were drawn from a famous Korean ode titled "Meonuri Shijo" ("An Ode To Daughter-in-law"). Sexy quartet LPG lend their vocals to a pouncing trot number CHU (Track 3), fittingly projecting the youthful energy of the newlyweds, Bok Su and Mi Jin. The lyrical ballad Ahpeujimayo ("Don't Get Hurt") (Track 5) talks of an unfortunate love, and features the emotive vocals of Kim Bo Hee. Rounding out the highlights are actress Kim Bo Yeon's uplifting rendition of Molayo ("Don't Know") (Track 4), Sarangyi Negero ("Love Comes To Me") (Track 6), and Bok Su Mi Jin Theme (Track 2) - all well-received by music critics for fittingly conveying the various personalities of the drama's characters.

명랑한 가족 액션극, <며느리 전성시대>의 OST가 발매되었다.다양한 캐릭터의 등장과 겹사돈이라는 다루기 어려운 소재를 재미있게 풀어내고 있는 <며느리 전성시대>는 기존 주말드라마의 제작방식과 문법을 벗어난 기획의도로 모처럼 주말 안방을 즐겁게 해 주고 있다. 이번에 발매되는 OST는 가족 드라마라는 기획의도에 맞게 다양한 연령층은 물론, 개성 강한 요즘의 가족 구성원들이 쉽게 받아들일 수 있게 제작되었다는 점이 특징이다. 랩이 인상적인 ‘며느리 왈’은 시어머니와 며느리와의 관계를 재미있게 풍자한 가사로 재미를 유발하고 있는데, 이는 실제로 우리나라 시조인 ‘며느리 시조’에서 발췌한 것이라고 한다.신세대 롱다리 미녀가수 LPG가 부른 ‘CHU'는 빠른 형태의 트롯 버전으로 드라마 속의 주인공인 복수 미진처럼 갓 결혼한 신혼부부의 마음을 그대로 담아낸 경쾌한 곡이다.이번 앨범의 타이틀인 ‘아프지마요’는 애절한 발라드 곡으로서 이룰 수 없는 사랑의 감정이 잘 표현되었다는 평가를 받고 있다. 또한 이 곡을 부른 김보희씨는 전 모노그룹의 보컬이었으며 그만의 여성스럽고 섬세한 음색으로 인해 곡의 느낌을 잘 살려주었다.인우와 복남의 순수한 감정을 노래하고 있는 ‘Loving U'는 드라마 후반부의 재미와 함께 관심과 흥미가 더해져 앨범 발매 이전부터 많은 시청자들로부터 큰 호응을 불러 일으켰던 곡이다.또한, 중장년층들이 쉽고 경쾌하게 따라부를 수 있는 ‘몰라요’는 탤런트 김보연씨가 부른 곡으로, 이미 1983년 서울국제가요제에서 금상을 수상한 바 있는 그녀가 이번 노래를 통해 다시 컴백(?)하게 될 지도 궁금증을 자아내는 대목.이 외에도 ‘사랑이 내게로’, ‘복수 미진 테마’ 등은 드라마에 등장하는 각각의 캐릭터들의 성격을 잘 살렸다는 평이다.

특히 이번 앨범은 신성우의 ‘서시’ 이승철의 ‘말리꽃’ 등을 통해 잘 알려진 작곡가 이근상씨가 전체 프로듀싱을 맡았다는 사실만으로 제작 전부터 주목을 받아왔다. 이러한 부담 때문인지 그 역시 오랜만의 음악작업에 부담을 많이 느꼈다는 후문. 하지만 그동안의 공백에도 불구하고 “음악의 수준과 내용이 높다”라는 주변의 반응에 안심했다고 한다.
