[Interview : Frederique Desseigne, Cartoonist Member of Korean Connection ] Bonjour.

Caroline and Frederique. Would you like to tell us what brings you to Korea
[Interview : Caroline Boullay, School teacher Member of Korean Connection ] Well. I just fell in love with Korea 3 years ago. And I was asked to approach for organization of this trip with group of 56 people, and most of them are quite attracted to K pop and hallyu wave.
But more for us all the aspect of culture of Korea, and I'm just helping.

[Interview : Frederique Desseigne, Cartoonist Member of Korean Connection ] As for myself, I am a manga cartoonist, so I have a project writing about K pop story actually taking place in Korea Seoul, so I needed material for my work, and I found out the Korea connection on the internet and this trip, so It was just perfect timing for me to come here with this group and have the inside look of the K pop business.

That's very interesting. What inspired you to I guess, create a story or manga on Korea
[Interview : Frederique Desseigne, Cartoonist
Member of Korean Connection ] Actually I wanted write a story of a band, that you would follow them from the rising to the fame, and I discovered K pop world long time ago.
But new style of K pop with training programs and all the go od skills of the performers was quite reason for me to knowlage and I thought that was really interesting actually.

So tell us little bit more about this organization. I understand that it's relativally new and it started by a Korean adoptee to just really get to know little bit more about korean culture but than it just grew[Interview : Caroline Boullay, School teacher
Member of Korean Connection ] Yes, the group started three years ago, It was few people we are Korean center in Paris. Just decided to stop to Korea some events, sort of space people to able to meet people who are interesting in Korea, and more and more people came to know about this association, and since last April, quite huge and so we are doing a lot of events like going to some korean restaurants in Paris and going to 노래방, and we are going to see some korean movies, because we are the possibility to do that, so we have great time and we are exchanging I'm talking about the korean culture. We enjoyed a lot.

So my understanding is that this is a self funded trip to Korea for all 56 of you. What kind of activities did you get to do in Korea
[Interview : Caroline Boullay, School teacher Member of Korean Connection ] Actually It was really interesting because huge was variety of activities, there were music TV shows with K pop dance, there were also some traditional events, attending to trying on the hanbok style and also traditional meal in the old house, so it was really wide actually.

I understand Caroline you went to one of the palaces in Seoul. How do you think about that
[Interview : Caroline Boullay, School teacher Member of Korean Connection ] I think it was a quite a great experience because I could put on a hanbok and I enjoyed a lot. But it was very interesting to know more about tradition and history how used to be in the past in Korea.
So it was quite good fun.

Well, since you were there, we have a clip runnig for you, and I think you might able to see in the footage right there. Tell us a little bit about it.
France is known for its historic architecture and cultural artifacts.
How did you find Korean architecture cultural artifacts
[Interview : Caroline Boullay, School teacher Member of Korean Connection ] It's completely different from Paris. What I like in Korea is you do have this traditional old style historic, and all these modern buildings,
the mixed between the new style and old style is very interesting. We do have the same in Paris but not so huge comparison not so, How to say, Can you help me please
[Interview : Frederique Desseigne, Cartoonist Member of Korean Connection ] Yes, actually what i think is really interesting is like it's kind of mixed everything in side Seoul, because in Paris we have the Paris city, which is old city. Around the city you have the new areas. But in Seoul, you have the mountains, you have the temples, you have the palaces, and you have the skyscrapers. I mean It's quite interesting.

Frederique, I know that you went to the Seoul Arts Center. How was that experience like
[Interview : Frederique Desseigne, Cartoonist Member of Korean Connection ] Acutally I'm really intereted in caligraphy in general. because it's really an art of drawing as a cartoonist it's really near what I do. Yes. I was really impressed.
There's variety of styles, and actually I discovered that there, own identity of a Korean caligraphyst I think.

So In my part it's interesting to find that your interest in Korea culture is so wide, ranging from pop culture all the way to traditional culture.
I understand that you have your drawings with you of your K-pop stars, your favorite stars perhaps
[Interview : Frederique Desseigne, Cartoonist Member of Korean Connection ] Sure, I brought some of my art.
Actually, this is some drawings that I did for the K Pop artist. This is Seo In-young that I really like for her style.
I think she really stands out. So I did two of her images for latest of her music video actually, 리듬속으로, and actually this is more about my project as a for the k pop band story, so this has not been finalized, yet.

And I understand that you gave one of these manga pictures to one of your favorite music icon
[Interview : Frederique Desseigne, Cartoonist Member of Korean Connection ] Yes I did because the one which is missing is the one of Key, member from Shinee. because we met them yesterday, so I just gave that to him.

And when did you guys meet them
[Interview : Caroline Boullay, School teacher Member of Korean Connection ] Really, really a dream to for most of the group try to able to meet them.
And especially now that they will have a first K-pop concert in France, maybe in Europe.
It was very important for us because it means that Korea is coming to France now and more and more people are going to know about Korea more.

Well I also know that, as part of this group Korean connection, you are learning Korean as well. Is that true
[Interview : Caroline Boullay, School teacher Member of Korean Connection ] Yes. We are learning Korean at the Korean center in Paris. We are working together association like KTU Definitely. So Frederique and Caroline, if you don't mind would you like to maybe show off a little bit of your Korean
[Interview : Caroline Boullay, School teacher Member of Korean Connection ] 안녕하세요. 캐롤린입니다. 선생님입니다. 한국 좋아요. 정말.

[Interview : Frederique Desseigne, Cartoonist Member of Korean Connection ] 안녕하세요. 저는 프레데릭입니다. 만화가에요. Maybe that's about it.

That's excellent. That's really good. Caroline and Frederique.
