Key East released a statement in regards to the reports that Han Ye-seul has been involved somehow with illegal foreign exchange. Han Ye-seul's name has been put on the list of the KBS exploratory report on suspicious illegal foreign exchange of plutocrats and celebrities resulting in 130 billion won.
Key East claimed, "Han Ye-seul has nothing to do with the foreign exchanges in property reported on the news. She owns a building in LA, USA in her own name since 2011 and she's reported her acquisition to the related national establishments".
"There is no legal dispute and she made the report as she isn't able to manage the building herself due to work in Korea. The issue found by the Financial Supervisory Service was due to the delay in reporting the ownership of overseas property, as she didn't know there was a rule about making record of it right away. "
"We received notice that the FSS can fine us about the delay and this fact as been acknowledged by authorities, that it wasn't an omission but a misunderstanding hence the fine".
"We regret the fact that we didn't know about the specific rule and didn't make declaration on time. However, we want to make it clear that she's not involved in any kind on undeclared foreign property exchange".
In addition to Key East, SM Entertainment defended its chairman Lee Soo-man. "When he established foreign subsidiaries all orders were followed and declarations were made as well as the co-investing subsidiary with producer Lee Soo-man. However, there was a miscalculation in the process of establishing affiliated companies by the responsible department and some alteration reports were declared later than sooner. The mistakes were later notified to the FSS right away and evidence was given of the situation".
The KBS explanatory report was about several plutocrats and celebrities including Lee Soo-man and Han Ye-seul being uncovered of 130 billion won's worth of illegal exchange. The report claimed, "Last year, reports of the conditions of property purchases were reported continuously but the FSS found 44 wealthy and famous persons involved in 130 billion won's worth of illegal exchange. Han Ye-seul, Lee Soo-man, Sin Yeong-gyoon and others have been fined for more than 1 billion won for having possession of foreign property since 2009".
