[HanCinema Awards] Best Drama

The year of 2016 brought a whole lot of awesome to television and this list of nominees is the creme of the crop. From December 16 to December 23 you can vote for your favorite drama of the year. Results will be revealed during the last week of 2016!

Here are the nominees:

"Neighborhood Lawyer Jo Deul-ho" When a want-for-naught lawyer chooses justice over materials wealth and loses everything an outstanding drama is born. Bravely facing those in his circle and fighting the wrongs of society, Jo Deul-ho brings television heart-wrenching stories, decisions that test morality, and a whole lot of satisfaction.

"Descendants of the Sun" is the drama to beat of 2016 with its worldwide reach and its incorporation of a character in the military. It has started a trend of pre-produced dramas and reached into media outlets all over the world. With its romance, exciting battles, natural disasters and foreign landscapes it is a whirlwind of a drama.

"W" Two people from very different worlds connect and solve a very dangerous mystery, one founded in elements unknown and exacerbated by their involvement. Along the way they learn to love and support each other despite their very different backgrounds. The mystery and romance combined make this one stellar drama.

"Reply 1988" A group of families who befriend each other, support each other, love each other, and fight with each other live through the years by each others' sides. What makes this show so wonderful is its poignancy and how it takes the little moments and makes them the stuffs of brilliant television.

"Signal" This spectacularly filmed and written drama is an exploration of the darker side of humanity as seen through the eyes of three very different people in law enforcement. It brilliantly incorporates a bit of the fantastical as a walkie-talkie connects a hard-working detective from the past with a jaded profiler in the present.

"Shopping King Louis" This drama centers around the dynamic friendship and romance between Louis and Bok-shil, the adorable puppy antics of Louis, and the loving scoldings of Bok-shil. It explores the natural growth from trusting friendship to a solid partnership as the couple experiences hardship and adversity.

"Love in the Moonlight" A story of two people from very different social worlds who are lonely and in need of someone to trust. Despite the disparity in status, a king and a cross-dressing woman fall in love, finding solace in each other in a tumultuous political climate.

"Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo" This show is addictive in nature, using the power of Lee Joon-gi to spur it forward. The story of a woman who travels from the 21st-century to the Goryeo period boasts of many handsome princes, bloody sibling battles for the crown, and romances that are star-crossed and dangerous.

"The K2" Action-packed, sleek, and powerfully acted, "The K2" is a political drama driven by revenge, love, and hunger for power. Song Yoon-ah and Ji Chang-wook are particularly standouts as they endeavor to fulfill their individual and combined agendas.
