"[Review] Korean Youth Who Flee Abroad Because They Hate Korea"

Sunny shares her take on a recent article on NATE that explored the current trend of young Koreans (20-30) who are leaving the country due to poor social, economic, cultural and political frustrations: "…I am simply trying to point out that one is mistaken if she/he thinks that the conflict of one vs. society may simply disappear if you go abroad. In fact, the stories of these two Korean youths are not finished. They have only begun their journey and we have yet to see the consequences of their choices. Whether it will be a happy-ending without any regrets, we can only hope and keep on moving forward".

"Maxim Korea features a man posing next to a woman tied up in a car boot"

Controversial cover, or are we trying too hard to be offended? Claire Hodgson, writing for Cosmopolitan, recently raised the question on Maxim magazine's latest cover that depicts "…what appears to be a naked woman, bound by duct tape, trapped in the back of the car, with her lifeless legs lolling out of the boot". Claire argues that the cover, among other complaints, "glamourising violence against women" and so amounts to irresponsible media coverage in a time where such depiction of inequality are insensitive, even irresponsible.

"CJ Group calls for support in spreading Korean culture"

We all know and celebrate of the success of the Korean Wave, but have there been any obstacles to Korea's culture expansion from the world and at home? Recently, Lee Chae-wook, CJ Groups vice chairman, scolded government for restricting corporations as they try to engage in "culture-related" international projects that could continue to benefit the country at large: "CJ has contributed to the global proliferation of Korean pop culture, which led to the enhancement of public awareness and likability for Korea and its products. However, back at home, we have been framed as a predator of the market, and restrained from actively carrying out our business activities".
