It's another week on top for Lee Yong-ju's "Architecture 101", adding another 570 917 admissions as it approaches the two million admissions mark. Lee Yong-ju's melodrama captured 29.30% of the ticket sales and just managed to edge out the foreign blockbuster "Wrath of the Titans" to stay on top for the second week running.
Jonathan Liebesman's "Wrath of the Titans" came out this week and with it the glorious tales of valour of the Greek legend Perseus as he attempts to free his father Zeus from his deviant and sinister brothers. This action flick just missed out on being the hot choice of the weekend, earning 482 488 admissions and holding 28.80% of the ticket sales. In third is the French offering "The Intouchables", down one place with 315 940 in the wake of the monstrous hit above. The next Korean film in the chart is the new entry "Over my Dead Body" by Wu Seon-ho and stars Lee Beom-soo, Ryoo Seung-bum, and Kim Ok-vin. Wu Seon-ho won the comedy award at the 4th Mise- en-Scene Short Film Festival and produced the film with comfortable budget of $2.6 million.
"Helpless" by Byun Young-joo is at four with 110 313 admissions, that makes it's total thus far a respectable 2,339,130, and keeps it just about "Love Fiction" as the fourth highest grossing Korean film of 2012. It's all down hill from here as the next entry, "This Means War", only managed 15,435 followed by the budget busting "John Carter". Disney is expecting to take a huge hit with "John Carter" as their massive advertising campaign and special effects wizardry failed to draw in the numbers they needed to keep it in the green.
"Space Dogs 3D" outshines "Chronicle", with the latter earning 11 167 admissions and the action-drama just 6 761. Lastly, the biggest Korean film of the year, "Nameless Gangster", makes a surprise return to the charts, showing that it's not done yet, adding another 2,363 to its total of 4,681,398 admissions.
