It's the time of year when families gather and make wishes under the full moon.
To tell the truth, though, there is nothing better than to fiddle the days away with some greasy holiday food and watch ssiruem, Korean traditional wrestling often on the TV over this holiday.
But you can choose from more than just half-naked men grappling with each other in a sand pit.
Both terrestrial and cable channels are airing a variety of shows targeting holiday couch potatoes.
Programs include entertainment shows, films, American dramas and cartoons.
Entertainment shows
A must-see is KBS 2 TV's comedy show "The Kind Guest House", which airs next Monday at 7:20 p.m.
In the show, foreign tourists from France, Spain, Kenya and Iceland visit a traditional Korean guest house and learn the local culture.
The supposed hosts of the guest house are entertainers
Lee Hyeok-jae,
Lee Soo-geun, Kim Shin-young and
Solbi.
They help the four tourists - who don't know a word of Korean - to become fully Koreanized.
SBS TV is planning some capers. "Delightful", which airs tomorrow at 10:45 a.m., is a variety show about five male stars including
Kim Gun-mo and Yoo Se-yun raising a teenage girl.
The five have to become super dads.
If you turn to MBC TV tomorrow at 9:35 p.m., there is a show introducing stars' pets in which entertainer
Lee Hwi-jae and Moon Hee-jun appear with their dogs and stage a fashion show.
Films
The terrestrial stations are airing some 20 films, mostly family or comedy, during the short holiday.
Included are "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" on MBC TV (Sunday, 12:25 a.m.), "Once" on EBS (Sunday, 11:25 p.m.) and "Two Faces of My Girlfriend" on MBC (Monday, 9:40 a.m.).
If you are a fan of Jane Austen, turn to On Style for a six-hour airing of Austin's novel-based films next Monday from 12:30 p.m.
American dramas
For fans of Terminator, turn to Channel CGV at noon until Monday. It is airing episodes of the television series, "Terminator 2.5".
Fox Channel is airing popular American dramas "Monk" at 8 p.m., "Supernatural" at 10 p.m. and "Law and Order" at midnight for two hours today and tomorrow.
Hollywood-based Korean actress
Kim Yoon-jin will feature in "Lost" on channel XTM. Starting at 10 p.m. tomorrow, season 4 lasts 15 hours.
Animations
Targeting the kids, Nickelodeon is playing "SpongeBob" for 12 hours on Monday from 7:30 a.m.
For some action, turn to Anione TV for "Power Rangers: Wild Force". The channel airs 13 episodes of Power Rangers today from 3:30 p.m.
There are also cartoon-based films including "Looney Looney Bugs Bunny" on Cartoon Network today at 1:30 p.m., and "Pocket Monster" on Anione on Monday at 7 a.m.
