An advertisement promoting actor Jang Keun-suk's first full-length Japanese music album has been awarded a prize by the Japanese Press Association.

Out of 475 ads submitted, 10 including the one for Jang's new "Just Crazy" album picked up gongs at a ceremony held at the Tokyo Prince Hotel last Friday to celebrate the 55th Day of Newspaper Advertisements.

The ad was carried on eight full pages of the Asahi Shimbun, a leading Japanese daily, in late May and received positive feedback from the public.

It also helped catapult Jang to the top of the Oricon daily and weekly charts immediately after the album's release, confirming his immense popularity in the neighboring country where he goes by the nickname "Prince of Asia".

An association staffer said the advertisement made clever use of the newspaper space and showed the actor-singer in his best light to leave a strong visual impression, while also broadening the content of newspaper advertisements.

Meanwhile, Jang will perform in Saitama, Japan on Nov. 26, 27, and 29 as part of his ongoing Asian tour after wrapping up the Chinese leg in Shenzhen this Saturday.
