Jang Most Searched on Internet

By Kang Shin-who
Staff Reporter

VJ Jang Young-ran's slip of tongue last week topped the nation's No.1 search engine Naver. Jang, 28, spat out a word that sounded like vulva while attending the KBS entertainment show, "Happy Together Friends", which aired on July 26.

A video clip of the scene was uploaded on Internet, titled "Jang Young-ran's broadcast incident". As the clip has spread rapidly, many people criticized not only Jang but also the program's producers.

However, Jang and the show producers refuted the criticism. "I don't think my pronunciation was problematic even after reviewing the scene", Jang's agency told Edaily SPN Thursday.

Korean blockbuster film "D-War" ranked second on the most searched word list. Directed by Shim Hyung-rae, a top comedian turned movie director, "D-War" drew about 420,000 moviegoers at 530 theaters for its opening day.

Coming in third was Shim Sung-min, 29, the second hostage who was shot dead by Taliban militants in Afghanistan following the late Rev. Bae Hyung-kyu.

The fourth most searched word was actress Jun Hye-jin, 30. It was recently announced that Jun is dating actor Lee Seon-gyoon, 31, who recently has drawn many attention from drama viewers. After the news reported, many netizens have flocked to Jeon's mini homepage.

Movie star Kim Hye-soo wrote a petition asking for the release of Korean hostages in Afghanistan through her personal blog and her mini homepage placed fifth.

MBC News Desk Anchor Eum Ki-young's giggle ranked sixth. While Eum was calling the name of a reporter who was supposed to convey news about family members of the Korean hostages in Afghanistan, Eum pronounced the name awkwardly and giggled while the scene was captured on TV.

Although Eum apologized his mistake, many netizens said that he should have worked in a more sincere manner as the news was about captives in Afghanistan.

Actor Cha In-pyo's mini homepage placed seventh. Cha called some netizens who are saying "Korean captives in Afghanistan deserve to die as they went there leaving their last will", as "cowards" on his personal blog. Cha's supporters and opposite groups severely debate over his remarks.

Coming in eight was MBC popular drama "Coffee Prince", followed by a movie "May 18" which has attracted 3 million audiences in only 11 days. Last on the list was "Pentaport Rock Festival" in Incheon.
