Ji Sung to return to the television screen as a resident doctor

Actor Ji Sung who completed his military service back in June will return to television screens as a resident doctor in the upcoming medical drama series "New Heart". The series will also star Cho Jae-hyun, Kim Min-jung, and others.

Ji Sung recently filmed the movie "Fate" starring Song Seung-heon. "New Heart" is his first drama after military discharge and first since "Save the Last Dance for Me" in 2005.

"New Heart" is a medical drama featuring the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery at the prestige Kwanghee University Hospital. Ji Sung plays Lee Eun Sung who graduates from a newly established medical school in the provinces and applies for the hospital with high hopes of becoming a great doctor. With natural talent and effort, he is acknowledged by the head of the department Choi Kang Gook played by Cho Jae-hyun.

Kim Min-jung plays Nam Hye Seok, an elite who graduates as top at her medical school. She is an absolute fundamentalist who starts to show her humane side as she gets to know Lee Eun Sung.

Cho Jae-hyun plays the newly appointed departmental head Choi Kang Gook who has is the best in his field while possessing all the qualities of a humane doctor. This is his first drama in two years.

To make the drama as realistic as possible, scriptwriter Hwang Eun-kyeong actually studied a Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. She says she used Professor Lee Young Tak of Samsung Seoul Medical Center as a model for Choi Kang Gook.
