Girl group Kara has been taking a beating in the local media for illegally parking in a handicap spot on the way to a concert in South Jeolla.
On Saturday, two vans the five-member girl group was travelling in made a quick stop at a rest and dining complex in Gongju, South Chungcheong. The place was packed, with no parking spaces available.
The drivers of the vans then parked illegally in an area designated for the disabled. The vehicles were parked for some 20 minutes while the members bought snacks and went to the restroom.
According to a witness, the drivers ignored a request for them to free up the handicap spot while the girl group members took their time eating hot dogs.
When security personnel arrived after receiving complaints, they told the group to move their vans, and they complied.
A security guard said there was "no scuffle" involved.
The group is currently busy promoting the title track of its fifth EP, "Pandora", released on Aug. 22.
