Rising K-pop girl group Kara were five-time winners at the Japan Gold Disc Awards 2012.
They swept Best Asian Artist, Best Three Asian Albums, Song of the Year by Download, Best Five Songs by Download and Best Music Video, during Friday's ceremony hosted by the Recording Industry Association of Japan in Tokyo.
Other K-pop stars won 13 different awards, showing their popularity in Japan.
Girls' Generation received Album of the Year and Best Three Asian Albums, awards while 2PM was named New Artist of the Year and Best Three New Artists.
TVXQ took home the award for Best Three Asian Albums, while Jang Geun-seok and B2ST were named two of Best Three New Artists. Korean trot singer Park Hyun-bin triumphed in the Best Enka Song New Artist category.
The winners for the 26th Japan Gold Disk Awards were selected based on combined scores by a jury, annual album sales ratings and soundtracks and DVDs that were sold in 2011.
