KCTV - Barimae Oreum

Above the waves of eulalia grass, a ridge rises.
This is Barimae Oreum in Aewol-eup.
Walking along the steep path and through the forest surrounding the crater, one can reach the southern peak, 760 meters above sea level.
To the east, we can see the snow-covered Halla Mountain and Witsae Oreum.
Southwards, Gway Oreum and the foggy Sanbang Mountain lie resplendent in the cold air.
Saebyeol Oreum , a symbol of Pyeonghwaro crossing the western part of the island, reveals its three peaks which boast a totally different landscape from that of Barimae.
The oreum is a relatively high 213 m, but reaching the top is not difficult thanks to the short trail.
Pine and oak trees cover the entire oreum.
Assorted bushes and grassland are visible in all directions.
The crater is shaped like a Baritdae, a kind of bowl monks use to make an offering to Buddha. This is believed to be the origin of the name 'Barimae'.
Unfortunately, 'Apbaengdwi ' a wide plain located at the southern part of the oreum was turned into a golf course 30 years ago.
Unkempt wild plants also cover what was once an exceptionally beautiful ridge.
However, the wider landscape viewed from the 760 meter peak remains intact, and is truly a precious gift granted to us by nature.
