Kim Ki-duk's film to open Karlovy Vary fest

"Time", director Kim Ki-duk's new feature film, will have its official world premiere as the opening movie of the 41st Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, which begins in the Bohemian spa town of Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic, Tuesday.

The director's 13th feature film stars actress Sung Hyun-ah ("Woman is the Future of Man") and actor Ha Jung-woo ("The Unforgiven") in the leading roles. The story revolves around the couple, their fading romance and hardships they consequently go through, including plastic surgeries to reignite their love.

Kim's films have been shown in more international film festivals than those of any other Korean director. In 2004, he took two best director awards: a Silver Bear for "Samaria" at the Berlin Film Festival and a Silver Lion for "3-Iron" at the Venice Film Festival.
