Kim Myung-min receives Korean ALS Association's appreciation

Kim Myung-min was recognized for his contribution in raising public awareness of Lou Gehrig's disease, a neurodegenerative ailment which affects the muscles and eventually causes paralysis.

On Sunday, 2 May 2010, the Korean ALS Association (KALSA) presented a Plaque of Appreciation to Kim Myung-min for his support to Lou Gehrig's disease patients and their families.

KALSA President, Dr. Lee Kwang-Woo said, "We are pleased to present the Plaque of Appreciation to Kim Myung-min to thank for his contributing to the KALSA. Last year, he helped our patients by donating indirectly through Naver Happy Energy Campaign, and let the public know how the patients were suffering from the bad disease".

Kim Myung-min played the role of a dying Lou Gehrig's disease patient in 2009 movie, "Closer to Heaven". The movie stayed on top of the charts for three consecutive weeks, and it earned Kim Myung-min recognition as best actor in Korea's two major film awards.
