자우림, 아직 어리던 젊은 날들을 회상하며 미래를 꿈꾸다
한국을 대표하는 밴드 자우림이 2005년 가을 새앨범 『靑春倪瓚(청춘예찬)』을 들고 청자들을 찾아왔다. 우선 눈에 띄는 푸르름 위에 빛 바래진, 아름다운 추억이 묻어나오는 음악이 담겼을 법한 아트워크가 그 속에 들어있는 음악들에 대한 호기심을 자극하여 살져 본 트랙리스트들은 다섯번째 앨범까지 종횡무진 신선한 감각으로 누구와도 비교될 수 없던 그들의 음악 위에 새로운 시도가 더욱 기대를 가지게 할 것이다. 이는 그 동안 자우림의 음악들이 팬들의 기대를 져버리지 않고 새로운 음악들로 거듭났던 업적들과 더불어 선곡에서 보여지는 제목만으로도 화려한 이름과 제목들, 그리고 자신들이 직접 만든 곡이 아니면 앨범에 담지 않았던 그들의 작업 방식을 깨고 다른 이들의 곡을 가지고 작업을 했다는 그 이유만으로도 궁금증을 더하기 때문일 것이다. 앨범을 손에 든 이들이라면 자우림의 음악세계에 있어 또 하나의 챕터가 전개되고 있음을 기대하면서 앨범을 열어보게 될 것이다.
11곡의 팝과 3곡의 자신들의 곡, 그리고 가요 1곡으로 구성한 이번 앨범들은 모두의 고전이라 할 수 있는 Phil Collins의 를 시작으로 모두에게 익숙한 명곡들로 이루어져 있다. 지금의 자우림이 있기까지 즐겨 들어 친숙하고 존경해서 수 백 번 따라 불렀던 곡 중 60 여개에 달하는 곡을 골라 직접 연주해보고 가장 자우림에게 어울리는 곡을 골라 작업해서인지 너무나도 자우림다운 곡들로 12곡이 탄생하였다. 그리고 본인들의 곡들 중 아끼는 곡들을 재편곡하여 이번 앨범에 어울리는 새로운 타이틀로 만들었다. 이로서 우리는 1997년 <헤이헤이헤이>를 시작으로 네번째, 다섯번째 앨범까지 자우림이 쌓아온 음악들과 음악에 대한 자세에 대한 신뢰를 확고히 하며 또한 앞으로의 음악적 방향을 앞서 기대할 수 있는 즐거운 상상의 기회가 될 수도 있을 것이다.

good album

jaurim did an awesome job on the covers in this album....i have no idea why it's not listed as 5 stars....Kim yuna's voice is amazing, as is her english. My favorite cover would have to be 'penny royal tea' originally by nirvana....yuna's voice is so haunting. i also found it cool that the korean version of jaurim's own song, " #1" was on the album as well. all in all its a bit different than the normal style of jaurim, but its still quite the amazing. |

| I'm a huge fan of Jaurim, and I'm from America, so I expected to get the most out of this new album. However, I felt many of the song choices were obscure and redone with a similar dark alternative rock style, which Jaurim is known for, however it occupied too many tracks. There are some goodies like Summertime and their remake of #1, but otherwise it's rather optional for the Jaurim fan. |
