KOFIC Support for Overseas Korean Filmmakers

KOFIC's support for overseas Korean filmmakers : Application acceptable from June 6 to July 7
- Low Budget Production Support, Script and Independent film Contest

Overseas Korean filmmakers have become very active as the size of the overseas Korean population has risen. It can be seen from the rise of directors Helen LEE, who works out of the United States, and ZHANG Lu, whose main base is in China, the activities of overseas Korean filmmakers can play an important role in establishing film and cultural exchanges between Korea and the countries in which they work. In addition, these individuals can also provide an new impetus for the Korean film industry.

With this in mind, KOFIC(the Korean Film Council) has prepared three special programs for the overseas Korean filmmakers ; Low Budget Production Support ; Script Contest ; and Independent film Contest.

Low Budget Production Support, newly launched this year, is a program for low budget feature films of the overseas Korean directors, granting up to 100,000 USD to one or two directors who will be selected.

The 4th Script Contest and the 2th Independent film Contest, co-hosted in collaboration with the Overseas Koreans Foundation, will select three completed scripts for feature films and two film projects in development, that are different from the main stream commercial films. Five award winners will be granted 40,000 USD in total.

The applications for the above programs will be accepted from June 6th to July 7th, by post or in person. For the detailed information, please see the file attached.
