Koo Hye-seon told to 'go... go away'

Actress Koo Hye-seon is suffering from the backlash of increased tensions between Korea and Japan.

As the two nations fight over the Dokdo islets, the Korean actress' works scheduled to air on Japanese television have been cancelled.

Koo's agency announced yesterday that its talent has been told to stay home, although she was invited to a three-day DVD launching event and promotional activities for her drama "My Darling".

The Taiwanese drama starring the Hallyu actress was set to air from Sept. 13 on BS Fuji, but the network announced last week that the show has been postponed indefinitely.

The network has officially stated that the cancellation was the result of a reshuffle of time slots, but recently, Song Il-gook shared a similar fate.

Two dramas featuring the Hallyu star have been postponed indefinitely. According to Sankei Newspaper on Aug. 16, the move came because of Song Il-guk's taking part in a swim rally claiming Korea's ownership of Dokdo.

드라마 DVD 발매기념 이벤트 참석차 일본을 방문할 예정이었던 배우 구혜선이 일본 방문 일정을 취소했다. 소속사 YG엔터테인먼트 관계자는 3일 "여러가지 사정으로 구혜선 씨의 일본 방문을 취소했다"라고 말했다. 구혜선은 3~4일 양일간 자신이 주연한 대만 드라마 '절대 그이'의 DVD 발매에 맞춰 일본을 찾을 예정이었다.

'절대 그이'는 당초 13일부터 일본 후지TV의 위성채널인 BS후지를 통해 방송될 예정이었다. 그러나 BS후지는 지난달 말 편성상의 이유를 들어 방송을 전격 보류했다. 하지만 방송국 측이 밝힌 '편성상의 이유'가 결국 독도 영유권을 둘러싼 한일 갈등으로 인해 일본에서 커지고 있는 반한 감 때문이 아니냐는 분석이 나오고 있다.

구혜선은 2008년 국내 언론사와의 인터뷰에서 "독도는 우리 땅이란 것은 기본적인 상식이다"라는 말을 한 적이 있다. 이 사실이 일본 네티즌들에게 알려지면서 "일본 오지 말고 너희 나라에서나 돈 벌어라" 등의 비난 여론이 형성되기도 했다.
