The original Korean animation Eon Kid (Korean title: Iron Kid) is performing well in the U.S. market, where it is competing with many excellently created U.S. animations.
First broadcast last September 22 on Kids Warner in the U.S.A., Eon Kid "ranked fourth in the ratings for audiences between two and 11 years old, beating Ninja Turtles", announced Design Storm (CEO: Sohn, Jeong-Sook). Eon Kid is among the programs that are broadcast at 10 a.m. on Saturdays, the golden time for children's programs. As such, it competes with globally popular animations such as Little Einstein, Ben Ten, and Ninja Turtles.
Chosen for the 2003 Star Project by Korea Culture and Content Agency (KOCCA, CEO: Suh, Byung-Moon), Eon Kid has already been recognized for its quality and marketability. A fully 3D robot action animation for TV, Eon Kid has succeeded in attracting investments from Daewon Media in Korea, BRB International in Spain, and Manga Entertainment (Current Stars Media) in the U.S., and has been broadcasting in some 20 countries, including France, Spain, and Italy. Eon Kid was also awarded the grand prize in the animation category at the 2005 Korea Cultural-Content Export Awards.
