Korean Films at Locarno Film Fest

The Swiss 59th Locarno International Film Festival (August 2-12) will feature three Korean films. The three invited Korean films are Teddy ROH's Last Dining Table KIM Young-nam's Don't Look Back, and Digital Short Films by Three Filmmakers 2006: Talk to Her.

Last Dining Table will be screened in the festival's new sidebar 'Play Forward'. The Play Forward section is designed to showcase creative audiovisual experimental films.

Don't Look Back has been selected for the 'International Competition'. The film portrays young Korean adults dealing with life, love and family. The film was the closing film at this year's Jeonju International Film Festival and was released in domestic theatres on July 13.

KIM Young-nam worked as an assistant director for director HONG Sang-soo's Woman is the Future of Man (2004). KIM's short films have been invited to several international film festivals, including Cannes Film Festival, Tokyo Film Festival and Pusan Film Festival. Pusan awarded his short film A Bowl of Tea the Sunje Award for best short film in 2005.

Digital Short Films by Three Filmmakers 2006: Talk to Her has been selected for the Filmmakers of the Present, new competition section from this year. Digital Short Films was produced by Jeonju International Film Festival and the three directors are Eric KHOO from Singapore, Darenzhan OMIRBAYEZ from Kazakhstan, and Pen-ek RARANARUANG from Thailand.

The Festival also holds special screenings for Digital Short Films by Three Filmmakers from 2000 to 2006, as a retrospective section.
