Korean Movies, Dramas Enjoying Popularity in Southeast Asia

With diverse plot lines and enhanced cinematic imageries, Korean movies and dramas are not only popular at home but also abroad.
The demand for Korean productions is rising in markets overseas, especially in Southeast Asia. In Thailand, the Korean wave is evident on both the small and big screens. Korean dramas are now programmed regularly on TV and enjoy high ratings.

The Korean fever is definitely hot at the Bangkok International Film Festival. Hundreds of stargazers and reporters crowded around top Korean celebrity Son Ye-jin, who was there to greet her fans and sign her autograph. One fan described the encounter with the South Korean actress as a dream come true.

The two-week-long film festival continues until Wednesday, enabling Korean stars to enjoy growing international recognition while helping to promote Korea's booming entertainment industry to a wider audience.
