A number of Korean short films have been invited to the 29th Clermont Ferrand International Short Film Festival, which is scheduled to be held from Jan. 26 until Feb. 3 in the small French city of Clermont.
Indie Story reported Thursday that three films have been invited to the competition category and two to the non-competition category.
Among those in the competition category, "The Freaking Family" directed by Park Soo-young and Park Jae-young and "The Little Thief" by Min Yong-geun have been selected for the international competition and "Cloudy Rainy" by Kwon A-rum for the Labo competition for innovative and experimental works.
Two other Korean films--"New Asian Superman" by Lim Seong-woon and "Mighty Man" by Park Soo-young and Park Jae-young"--have been invited to the non-competitive New Hero Focus. The Park brothers have seen their works compete both in the competition and non-competition categories.
Considered the "Cannes Film Festival of short films", the Clermont Ferrand festival is one of the top three short film festivals along with Germany's Oberhausen Festival and Finland's Tampere Festival.
Korean works that have been selected to compete at the festival in the past include "Throw the Cross Away" by Oh Jeom-gyun, "Chapter 2: How to Breathe" by Lee Hyung-seok and ""Smoke-Flavored Life" by Yoo Eun-jeong.
