The famous Korean actor
Song Seung-heon was named Honorary Ambassador of the musical comedy 'FANTA-STICK' on August 26th at the Korean Insurance 63 Art Hall, the main performance venue.
This is the first time a major Korean celebrity will be acting as a spokesperson for a non-verbal musical performance. The new partnership marks a new era for 'fusion performances', in which traditional art forms are featured in modern art performances.
During his acceptance of the title of honorary ambassador Mr.
Song Seung-heon took photos with the FANTA-STICK cast and tried several of the instruments used in the show. The new photos of
Song Seung-heon and the cast will appear on FANTA-STICK posters in the next coming months.
The story of FANTA-STICK is about a feud between the Percussion Family (who operates an auto repair shop) and the String Family, a ghost family on a mission to be turned back into humans. Of course, things get tricky when, in the midst of the feud, two members of the opposing families start to fall in love.
Since its opening last August, FANTA-STICK has become a Best Seller in the nonverbal performance category on the popular ticketing site Interpark, beating out old-time favorites like 'Drawing Show', and 'Ballerina Loves B-boy'. Though based on traditional Korean music, the show has plenty of modern elements, including a new "Car-formance", a percussion act featuring a vintage automobile.
As the new ambassador of the show, Mr.
Song Seung-heon said that he hopes, 'not only to introduce the show to Korean and international travelers as part of Korean culture, but to help the show gain support and grow as part the world's shared culture'.
