 Director Kwak Jae-yong urges viewers not to compare his Japanese movie "Cyborg She" to his previous production "My Sassy Girl". But the latter comes to mind when watching "Cyborg She". The robot-girlfriend in the film, played by Japanese star Haruka Ayase, is like an updated version of the "sassy girl", who was played by Jeon Ji-hyeon. This bizarre character seems to have no limits when it comes to eccentricity.Jirou, played by Keisuke Koide, resembles the innocent boy who was played by Cha Tae-hyeon in "My Sassy Girl". His naive behavior, silly facial expressions and the way he responds to the erratic behavior of his girlfriend mimic those of Cha's character. | Kang Hyeong-cheol's "Scandal Makers" ("Speedy Scandal") barely three months after its Korean release is set to be remade in the U.S. The William Morris Talent Agency, one of the biggest above the line talent agencies in the U.S snapped the film up after seeing a screener. The Agency represents and has represented some of the biggest in Hollywood including actors Denzel Washington, Russell Crowe and Richard Gere and directors Quentin Tarantino Ridley Scott and Clint Eastwood. Barry Sonenfeld director of Men in Black, TV drama Pushing up Daisies and producer of many other U.S TV dramas is set to direct and produce. The Korean release stars Cha Tae-hyeon, who also appeared in "My Sassy Girl" (2001), another major comedy to be bought up by the U.S. Cha plays a popular radio host in his thirties who used to be a star in his teens. | Barry Sonnenfeld, the director of "Men in Black", "The Addams Family" and "Wild Wild West" has his eye on remaking the comedy "Scandal Makers" ("Speedy Scandal"), which sold 8.2 million tickets as of Monday after its release last December. The Korean film starring Cha Tae-hyeon and Park Bo-yeong will be remade in Hollywood, according to M-Line Distribution, an international film sales company. Internet users have chosen Cha Tae-hyeon of "Speedy Scandal" ("Scandal Maker") and Sin Min-ah of "Go Go 70s" as their favorite movie stars. The two film stars will be presented with the best leading actor and actress awards at the 6th Max Movie Grand Film Awards later Wednesday night in Seoul.
Cha's film "Speedy Scandal" has drawn more than 8 million moviegoers, becoming the seventh highest grossing Korean film. The comedy about three-generation family with Cha as a young grandfather has warmed the hearts of Korean film lovers and again put Cha on the map as the nation's leading comic actor. Sin was applauded for her role as a dancer in "Go Go 70s", a film about a rock band struggling to make it in the conservative era of the 1970s.
