"My Sassy Girl" (Yeopgijeokin Geunyeo) director KWAK Jae-yong's latest film "Cyborg Girl" will be cinematically released in ten countries, including Korea. The romantic comedy is a Japanese production and stars the Japanese actors Ayase Haruki and Koide Keisuke in the leading roles.

"Cyborg Girl" will kick off its grand international tour in Japan on May 31. KWAK wrote and directed the romantic film. The big budget film includes several special effects laden scenes.

Ayase Haruki plays the titular cyborg girl who becomes involved with an earthly university student, portrayed by Koide Keisuke. Cyborg Girl is somewhat quintessentially KWAK as the sci-fi film features a dominant (cyborg) girl who doesn't hesitate to use physical force against the man of her affection, similar to "My Sassy Girl".

"My Sassy Girl" is one of the early 'Korean Wave' films which achieved great popularity in Japan and other Asian countries, turning its stars JEON Ji-hyeon and CHA Tae-hyeon into stars ...

Among the new slate of talented young Korean directors, the brothers JEONG Beom-sik and JEONG Sik are among its leading exponents; the latest development around their debut film "Epitaph" (Gidam) is the sale of its distribution rights to North America (TLA Releasing), Hong Kong (Celestial Movies Channel) and Japan (CCRE) by Studio 2.0 at the Hong Kong Filmart.

Studio 2.0 also sold the rights of "Highway Star" (Bokmyeon Dalho), starring CHA Tae-hyeon, to Hong Kong (Celestial Movies Channel), China (H.G.C.) and Vietnam (Diamond Cinema). Animation "Aachi and Ssipak" was picked up by Spain's Notro and "Lovers of 6 Years" (Yooknyeonjjae Yeonae Joong) with KIM Ha-neul will be released in Vietnam (Diamond Cinema).

"BA:BO" (Babo) tells a warm tale set in a village during a winter. The feel-good film's line-up includes the popular actors HA Ji-won and CHA Tae-hyeon. KIM Jeong-kwon directed the comedy.

CHA plays a likeable fool who stopped developing intellectually since an accident at a very young age which took his father's life. He is now a grown-up and tries to make a living for himself and his younger sister after his mother also passed away.

The sister – a role by PARK Ha-seon – is a high school student who tries to hide the fact that the rather simple man selling toast near her school is her brother out of embarrassment and she ignores him at home.

CHA's character's only friend used to be the tough kid at school, a role by PARK Hee-seon. CHA's character was expelled from school as a boy for something PARK's character was guilty.

Director KIM Jeong-kwon will next bring a drama with comical touches starring HA Ji-won and CHA Tae-hyeon. The film is titled "BA:BO" (Babo, English translation: fool). The film is an adaptation of a popular internet manwha (Korean equivalent of the Japanese manga, Chinese manhwa and the western comic) with a great emotional appeal.

CHA portrays a young man who stopped developing mentally after an accident at a young age. HA plays his youth friend who returns to her hometown and the two are reunited. HA's character is a talented pianist, but she suffers from stage fright.

CHA is a comedy star, most notably for his leading role in "My Sassy Girl". HA's filmography ranges from comedy to horror and includes the titles: "Sex is Zero", "Duelist" and "Phone". KIM is the director behind the romantic drama "Ditto". The film is scheduled for release at the end of February.
