October 1st is Korea's Soldier's Day and the actors like Jo In-seong, Lee Jeong-hee, Ko Jang-hwan, and Cheon Jeong-myeong are performing a celebration stage!

The celebrities serving the country are going to have  a special corner "Celebration with the Citizens" for this event.

"Hansel and Gretel" wins twice at Fantasporto

LIM Pil-seong's visual feast "Hansel and Gretel" won Fantasporto Fantasy competition's Special prize, and Orient express' Best film award. LIM's fantasy film was in the running for three awards in the competitions: Fantasy, Directors week, and Orient express.

All of the three major fantastic film festivals – 2008 Ssitges International Film Festival of Catalonia (Spain), Brussels (Belgium), and Fantasporto (Oporto, Portugal) – have selected "Hansel and Gretel". The film also played at 2008 Vancouver International Film Festival, 2008 Filmasia Film Festival, 2008 Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival, and 2008 The Times BFI London Film Festival.

"Hansel and Gretel" was cinematically released in the UK on 16 January. The Canadian release is scheduled for 27 March.

Actress Ko Reveals Truth About Rumors

Top actress Ko Hyeon-jeong surprised fans not only by appearing on a TV entertainment show for the first time in 15 years but also addressing rumors surrounding her shrouded personal life.

The 38-year-old rose to stardom through the 1995 hit TV series "Sandglass" and then made headlines for marrying into one of the wealthiest Korean families that same year. Her marriage to Chung Yong-jin, Samsung Chairman Lee Kun-hee's nephew and vice president of Shinsegae Department Store, ended in 2003 and Ko resumed acting in 2006.

She appeared on "Golden Fishery", a popular MBC talk show hosted by comedian Kang Ho-dong. The actress surprised the host by bringing up rumors such as how she was allegedly ostracized by her former in-laws during her marriage.

"I've heard people say that my in-laws spoke in English around me but that's completely untrue", she said. "They are well-educated people and would never ostracize people in such a childish way".

Cheon Jeong-myeong, who entered military service January 2 and is a training teaching assistant at a new recruit education university, appeared in the military monthly webzine 'ARMYZINE'.

Someone from his military unit said in an interview, "Private Cheon Jeong-myeong is doing well as a teaching assistant. He said that he wanted to complete his military life as a teaching assistant".

Male Stars Join Military This Year

This year, some of the hottest male stars in Korean entertainment will temporarily leave the spotlight to enter the military as part of the two-year service compulsory for all Korean males.

"Coffee Prince" star Gong Yoo met with around 1,000 fans in a special meeting Sunday. He asked fans not to worry while he was serving in the military, but became emotional during the event.

Gong's red-hot career will have to be put on hold for the next two years. The actor, who recently gained popularity for his role in the hit MBC drama, will enter the military Jan. 14.

Last week, actor Cheon Jeong-myeong, who appeared in the film "Hansel and Gretel", and pop group NRG member No Yoo-min started their military training.

Hallyu stars Jo In-seong, Jo Hyeon-jae, Yang Dong-keun, Lee Dong-geon and Kim Rae-won are also expected to enlist this year.
