MBC drama "General Hospital" that drew so much popularity in the mid 1990s will be broadcast again after 12 years.

"General Hospital", which aired for two years from February 1994 to March 1996, can be called the original medical drama and held a record viewing of 43.0%.

Lee Jae-ryong, who was the resident, will be the main character in season two, and Choi Wan-gyoo (of "Jumong"), who wrote season one, will write season two.

Season two of "General Hospital" will be aired at the end of this year....

KBS announced its spring lineup and have decided to discontinue "Drama City", and drama writers are urging for reconsideration.

Fifty-seven writers wrote a statement titled, "KBS, Rescue "Drama City"." They said, "There is no justification for the extermination of the one-act drama. As a public station, KBS must keep the value of the one-act drama, which may not earn money but is necessary for the development of broadcasting".

They said, "KBS is shaming their own value as they proudly admit that they are trying to destroy the one-act drama. We urge you to reconsider the discontinuation of "Drama City"."

This statement came under 57 writers, including Kim Yeong-Hyeon, Kim Jeong-soo, Noh Hee-Kyeong, Park Jeong-ran, Song Ji-na, and Choi Wan-gyoo....

Active both in its advance into the film business and the expansion of its media business this year, Yedang Entertainment (CEO: Yang, Hee-Jong) is seeking to widen its scope to include the performing events and drama industry.

Yedang announced that Lobbyist, an SBS' special drama scheduled to be broadcast in October and a co-production between Yedang and Chorokbaem Media, was Yedang's signal to get into the drama business. Yedang has actively been investing on dramas, starting with Winter Sonata, the icon of the Korean Wave, as well as "New Employee" and "Sweet Spy", and has been analyzing the profitability of the drama market. Particularly, Yedang teamed with TBS in Japan to produce "Rondo" last year, which made huge waves.

Choi Wan-gyoo who wrote scripts for numerous hit television series including 'Heo Jun', 'All In', 'Jumong' and others will be writing the script for the television of 'Shiri'.

The movie 'Shiri', directed by Kang Je-gyu and considered the start of Korean blockbusters, will be remade into a drama series according to MK Pictures of which Director Kang Je-gyu is a member of.

Choi Wan-gyoo commented on the 21st, "I will be writing the script for the drama version of 'Shiri', and am currently preparing as the genre is different".

While the production director has not yet been determined, Producer Jang Yong-Woo of 'Wangcho' and 'Hotelier' is being strongly considered.

Scriptwriter Choi also says, "An NIS agent will be the main character as in the movie while the Presidential Security Service will serve as a major setting. The series will resemble the '24' in structure".

The series will be written by the group of writers of A Story, Inc. with Choi Wan-gyoo as the main writer.

Song Il-gook of 'Jumong' and screen star Jang Jin-yeong were cast as the lead characters of the blockbuster SBS drama series 'Angel' with a budget of 12 billion won. The series which is scheduled to air in September will start filming in New York on the 21st.

The 24 episode 'Angel' draws the story of lobbyists who have a seemingly extravagant life but encounter the cruelties in achieving their purpose on the job. The love story will mix in to story line filled with international politics, black market weapon deals, and political conspiracies lobbyists are involved with.

Song Il-gook who has risen to national stardom through the series 'Jumong' will play Harry who matures through working in the military supply business. Jang Jin-yeong will be returning to the TV screen after focusing on movies since 2001 and will play the role of Maria who becomes a lobbyist to solve the mystery of her sister's death.
