Singers Cross Into Acting

While many singers are gasping for air amid the economic recession, which lowered revenue from already plunging album sales, some are temporarily leaving their original posts to pursue different careers.

First, came entertainment programs.

Singers Lee Hyo-lee, Yoon Jong-shin and Dae-sung from boy band Big Bang appeared on the SBS program "The Family is Out!", garnering fans and leading the show to become one of the most popular on television during that time slot. Pop duo Country Kkokko members Shin Jung-hwan and Tak Hae-hun have been masters of ceremonies for quite a while, with Tak winning the grand prize at the KBS Entertainment Awards in 2007 and even appearing on the big screen several times.

[TALK OF THE TOWN] Boot camp beckons for boy band balladeer

Last Monday at an army training camp in Gongju, South Chungcheong, some 200 fans from Japan, China, Taiwan and Hong Kong, were waiting for one lucky guy - star singer Kim Dong-wan.

It was the day Kim from Korea's long-time idol group Shinhwa joined the army.

After four weeks in boot camp, he begins a two-year stint at the Seodaemun District Office, northern Seoul.

"I will do my best to serve the country", Kim said. "Please look after the other guys in Shinhwa".

Kim is the second member of the band to enter the army.

Eric Moon's image in the military camp being trained has been released.

Eric is tightening his fist and is yelling in this picture with others in training.

He will be here for four weeks and then will be able to work at the military office. He has given up his residency of California and has been injured in the drama "Wolf" thus could not even continue filming this. Because of this injury, he cannot stay serve in the military camps for two years but has to work in the offices instead....| More
