Eun Ji-won, a rapper and former leader of the 90s idol group Sechs Kies, has gone into producing and nurturing new artists. Eun's representative announced that Eun had founded GYM Entertainment earlier this year to raise new, promising musicians and his first project is singer Gilmi. Now he has begun a new career as a music producer after spending 12 years as an idol singer.

Eun says that Gilmi is a very talented underground musician, who has put on more than 300 performances over the past 10 years. He will back up Gilmi's first national appearance on Friday's Music Bank by singing together "Love Cats", the title song from Gilmi's latest album.

Eun debuted in 1997 as the leader of Sechs Kies, the hottest idol group in the 1990s. He went solo after the group disbanded in 2002 and has released such hits as "Drunk in Melody", "Adios", and "Dangerous". Lee Seung-gi Hopes to Appear on Japanese TV

Singer Lee Seung-gi (22), among the star group of the hit "1 Night 2 Days" travel corner on the entertainment program "Happy Sunday", held his first fan meeting in Japan Tuesday at the Laforet Museum in Tokyo.

At the event designed as a radio recording open to the public, Lee surprised the fans when he sang his hit number "You are my girl" in Japanese.

He said, "It's late but I wish everyone a happy New Year", also in Japanese, and confessed that his preparations for the event were difficult and that he was so nervous that he hardly slept.

He also said he was sorry he could not be with his family at home during the lunar New Year holiday but happy to be with his fans in Japan.

He said he was given an award for his role in "1 Night 2 Days" last year and hoped to focus more on his singing this year and be awarded for that as well.

I watched as a sought-after singer wearing no makeup at all caught live fish with her bare hands.

Meanwhile, a prim-and-proper actress got ready to slice up the catch for dinner.

This is the latest fad on Korea's weekend TV shows ? putting celebrities through pain to entertain viewers.

The singer Lee Hyo-lee and the actress Park Ye-jin were featured on a recently launched entertainment show called "Here Comes the Family".

It airs on SBS-TV at 5:20 p.m. on Sundays in the segment called "I Love Sundays".

The singer and actress were part of a group of eight celebrities.

They are sent on a trip to the countryside where they stay on a farm whose occupants have been sent on a fancy holiday.

The celebrities stay on the farm and take care of the farming while the family is away.

The eight celebrities are dubbed a family, although they have no blood ties.

The show's point is that this "family" from the city is thrown into the reality of farming.

Two leading variety shows on KBS TV, 'Happy Together Season 3' and 'One Night and Two Days', a popular segment on 'Happy Sunday', are more popular than ever this cold winter season.

'One Night and Two Days' features various 'road trip adventures' that take place when the main cast members Kang Ho-dong, Kim C, Eun Ji-won, Lee Soo-keun, Lee Seung-gi and MC Mong leave for remote destinations, including small mountain villages and islands, for one night and two days.

The cast member that loses in a game--whose results depend purely on luck--must spend one night outdoors in a tent.

Meanwhile, the third season of ' Happy Together ' is filmed inside a public sauna. Cast members must endure the heat and sing an entire song without making a single mistake in order to escape from the unbearably hot sauna.

K-Pop Named among 20 Globe Sweeping Trends

Forbes magazine has picked K-POP as one of 20 globe-sweeping trends.

In its Jan. 9th issue, the economic magazine selected cultural icons expected to receive further public attention, including Korean pop music which led the 'hallyu' Korean pop culture phenomenon in Asia for years. Singers "Rain" and Eun Ji-won were mentioned in the report.

The report said that while Western style boy bands have been the mainstream so far, K-POP's emergence is triggering new change.

Forbes cited Eun as an example, calling his style a "combination of indie band, Latin and hiphop". It also introduced singer cum actor "Rain"'s Hollywood debut this year in the film 'Speed Racer' by the Wachowski brothers, famous for 'The Matrix'.
