[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Vampire Detective" Episode 5 2016/04/25,
While the vampire side of things remains benched, we have some welcome forward movement in character development in episode five, sparked by what is probably the most interesting guest character yet. The case itself is very entertaining and nicely presented, giving us plenty of suspects and inviting us to a guessing game. Worry not, Yo-na is still around and she is very eager to have a piece of San, figuratively and very literally so,...More

[Funcurve Review] "I Order You" 2015/12/05,
Tasty Love Story
Falling in love at first sight? More like falling in love at first taste. "I Order You" immediately intrigued and pulled me in with the way the female lead lusts after food. But beyond the atypical gluttonous heroine, I really liked the way it introduces each character as time goes on to help the story progress naturally. "I Order You" is also fast moving with each episode being about 20 minutes long. It's the perfect length to get the story across and build character depth, while not long enough to make me bored. Most importantly, "I Order You" seems to be a lighthearted drama with a hint of romantic comedy upon first impression,...More
'Last' 1st Broadcast, 70 minutes filled with Yoon Kye-sangs' deadly charm 2015/07/24, Source,
The Korean drama "Last" filled the whole 70 minutes of its first episode with Yoon Kye-sang's, the protagonist, deadly charms. The first episode of the JTBC's Friday-Saturday drama which aired on the 24th portrayed the story of Tae-ho, who was a successful stock investor played by Yoon Kye-sangs, falling to the bottom because of a single mistake. He was going for one finial big deal before returning to America and started a 25 million dollar investment scheme even involving loan sharks. However, the scheme fails because of one person' betrayal and he is caught by the loan sharks,...More
[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Drama Special - Ugly Love" 2014/10/26,
At first glance the title "Drama Special - Ugly Love" appears to refer to the less-than-handsome physical appearance of Han-sang (played by Jo Dal-hwan). Actually, the drama's subject matter is much darker than that. Han-sang is the gopher to Yeong-cheol (played by Kim Yeong-hoon), an attractive playboy executive who utilizes money, charms, and Han-sang's ideas for romantic gestures to use women until he's bored with them, at which point Han-sang cleans up the mess,...More

[HanCinema's Drama Review] "The Greatest Thing in the World" Episode 2 2013/09/20,
Unfortunately, the drama has apparently decided that simply choosing to be a mother and hanging around with villainous characters is all the context needed to make Woo-Seon a likable character. Is professional rival Yoo-Ri catty and mean? Yes, but Woo-Seon deliberately lied to the production company about not having a medical condition in order to secure a stage role she cannot possibly perform. I can't worry about Yoo-Ri discovering Woo-Seon is pregnant when Yoo-Ri and the entire production company have a right to know about this,...More
[HanCinema's Drama Review] "The Greatest Thing in the World" Episode 1 2013/09/19,
The first distinctive image we're treated to in this drama is of a father discovering that his teenage daughter is pregnant in a remarkably surreal absurd way, punctuated by stock music and sound effects that really hit just how stupid this guy feels for not figuring it out sooner. It's a generally serious moment that's totally wrecked by the way the drama's editing conspires to turn the whole incident into the butt end of a joke. And I have to admit, I laughed,...More
