Hallyu Stars to Stage Special Show in Tokyo

Heartthrobs Lee Byeong-heon, Jang Dong-gun, Song Seung-heon and Won Bin will take part in a special "hallyu" (Korean Wave) festival in Tokyo in December, Yonhap News reported Monday.

The event, to take place Dec. 17 at Tokyo Dome, will be directed by renowned Japanese writer-producer Yasushi Akimoto. The four actors will give a theatrical performance set to an audiovisual piece by acclaimed Korean director Heo Jin-ho ("Season of Good Rain").

The four 30-something stars, who are known to be good friends, are said to have initiated the project, wanting to do "something fun and unprecedented".

Lee ("I Come With the Rain"), who became popular in Asian countries through TV soaps such as "All In", said he was was "happy to meet fans through a special production before the end of the year".

Heo's melodrama touches the heart of Chinese people

"I bought one of them as kind of souvenir after finding my movies are sold in the form of illegally copied DVDs on the street of Shanghai. Many Chinese people know my movies".

Getting positive comments from moviegoers in China, director Heo Jin-ho, who is famous for "Christmas in August" and "April Snow", visited Beijing to attend 'Heo Jin-ho Special'. Organized by Korean Cultural Service, China and Beijing Film Academy, this special event takes place from Oct 27-28.
"Chinese audiences seemed to totally understand what I wanted to say through my movie. Feelings and emotions can be delivered regardless of cultural differences", said director Heo at a press conference on the night of Oct. 27.

CCTV filmed a special report on him on Oct. 27 and he had 'Talks with Director' time with students in the film academy. "Season of Good Rain" is slated to open in 1200 theaters in China in December. Half of the total investment came from Korea and the remaining half from China.

Stars Fall Upon Haeundae for Busan Film Festival

The red carpet is ready to be unrolled for the opening tonight of the 14th Pusan (Busan) International Film Festival (PIFF).

Haeundae Beach in the southern port city will sizzle with the longest ever lineup of 355 films from 70 countries and a VIP guest list featuring more than the usual number of high profile stars and cineastes from near and far.

Fans are invited to take part in not only star-studded screenings and events but also concerts, exhibitions and other eye-catching sideline events.

Star-Gazing

The opening ceremony takes place at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Suyoung Bay Yacht Marina. The 1970s screen siren Jang Mi-hee and "The Chaser" star Kim Yoon-seok will host the event, while top South Korean actors plan to grace the red carpet. Heo Jin-ho directs Korea-China love story

Christmas in August director Heo Jin-ho will return to cinemas on 8 October with the romantic film "Season of Good Rain". "Season of Good Rain" is a co-production between Korea (Pancinema Corp.) and China (Zonbo Media).

The romantic leads are played by Korean actor JEONG Woo-seong and Chinese actress Gao Yuanyuan. The two met in the US when they were young. JEONG's character is assigned to a project in China, he accidentally meets her again and old feelings resurface.

Heo is a specialist of melodramas. He gained much acclaim for "Christmas in August", followed by "One Fine Spring Day", "April Snow" and "Happiness". JEONG's long career includes "Beat", "A Moment to Remember" and "The Good, the Bad, the Weird".
