Hong Kyeong-in returns in SBS drama "Robber" alongside Jang Hyeok

Actor Hong Kyeong-in who recently returned to the entertainment scene through a musical after his military discharge will return to the television screen for the first time in four years in the upcoming SBS series "Robber".

"Robber" which will air on December 26th following "Lobbyist" draws the story of 'player' Oh Joon, played by Jang Hyeok and innocent 'single mom' Jin Dal Lae, played by Lee Da-hae. Hong Kyeong-in will play Oh Joon's friend Kim Man Doo who helps him wholeheartedly regardless of the situation.

Hong Kyeong-in's appearance in the series was actually decided based on his friendship with actor Jang Hyeok. The two also appeared together in the movie "Zzang" and drama series "Daemang".

Hong Kyeong-in commented, "It feels like just yesterday that I was in the military waiting to return to the television screen, and now I am extremely excited and happy to be part of a great piece. I am looking forward to working with my close friend Jang Hyeok as well"....| More

Lawsuit threatened over military 'entertainment unit'

March 22, 2006 ㅡ A battle is brewing between male celebrities' agencies and the Defense Ministry. This time it's not about entertainers trying to dodge their compulsory military service, nor tried to delay their draft date to "advance their entertainment career". It is rather the agencies that are angry that stars are being abused in the military. Some agencies are reportedly preparing to lodge a suit claiming a plan by the Defense Ministryto get entertainers automatically assigned to work for the ministry's cable channel.
The agencies say they want to defend the rights of the entertainers who might want to spend their military term like ordinary soldiers, though it is questionable whether the entertainers agree with that.

Top Celebrities Get Ready to Fullfill Their Mandatory Military Requirements

The local mandatory conscription system calls on all able-bodied men over the age of 20 to serve for two years. Celebrities are no exception.

Just as students defer their studies and office workers request extended leaves of absence from their employers, actors and singers too are expected to put their careers on hold.

A recent celebrity to do so is "TaeGukGi: The Brotherhood of War" star Won Bin, who entered the 102nd Reserves in Chunchon, Kangwon Province last November.

Singers Kim Jong-kook and Jo Seong-mo and boyband Shinhwa member Eric Moon are among those expected to be drafted in 2006.
