The funeral for Kim Hyeong-gon, one of Korea's most influential comedians, took place Monday at Gangnam St. Mary's Hospital in southern Seoul.
Kim died suddenly of a heart attack last year. He was 49.
The funeral was delayed because Kim donated his body to medical research. Doctors recently declared that Kim's body was ready for cremation. His ashes will be placed in Chungah Park, a charnel house in Ilsan, Gyeonggi.
Kim's family and other comedians, including Lee Yong-shik, Moon Young-mee and Ji Young-ok, attended the ceremony.
After the ceremony, the family headed to Le Meilleur Theater in Daehangno, central Seoul, a hub for the theater arts in Korea, as a gesture to Kim's career in showbusiness.
Kim made his debut in 1980 after winning second prize in the TBC Gag Contest.
He appeared mainly with Choi Yang-rak, Im Ha-ryong and Shim Hyung-rae, the comedian-turned-director of the rencent box-office hit "D-War".

Among them, "Bravo My Life - 2007", "The Happy Life" and "Wild Hogs", show that one can never be too late to rock 'n' roll or hit the road on bikes. The latent spirit of youth awakens in middle-aged men, providing much laughter and tears for audiences of all ages, especially fathers.

"King and Clown" nominated for 15 categories of Daejong award

The film "The King and the Clown" has been nominated for 15 categories at the 43rd Daejong Film Festival slated to open on July 21. The number is the most categories a single film has ever been nominated for in the festival's history. The runner-ups were "Typhoon" with 12 categories and "Welcome to Dongmakgeol" with nine categories.

The nominated films were announced on June 20th at the Seoul Press Center.

"King and the Clown" will vie for best picture, best director (Lee Joon-ik), best leading actor (Kam Woo-seong), best supporting actor (Yoo Hae-jin), best supporting actress (Kang Seong-yeon), best new actor (Lee Joon-ki), best script, best cinematography, best lighting, best editing, best music, best art, best acoustic technology, best planning and best costumes.

"Typhoon", for its part, will compete for best picture, best director (Kwak Gyeong-taek) and best leading actors (Jang Dong-gun and Lee Jung-jae).

"Sympathy for Lady Vengeance" wins Best Picture Award

The movie "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance" by director Park Chan-wook (produced by Moho Film) won the Best Picture and Best Actress Award (Lee Young-ae) at the 26th Blue Dragon Award Ceremony held Nov. 29 at 8 p.m. at the KBS hall in Yeouido, Seoul.

The Best Actor award went to Hwang Jeong-min for his role in "You are My Sunshine!", while the Best Director award went to the movie's director, Park Jin-pyo.

The movie "Welcome to Dongmakgol" won the award for drawing the largest number of viewers in the history of Korean movies as well as awards for Best Supporting Actor (Im Ha-ryong) and Best Supporting Actress (Kang Hye-jeong).

The Best New Actor award went to Cheon Jeong-myeong for his role in "The Aggressives", while the Best New Actress award was won by Kim Ji-soo for her role in "This Charming Girl".

Jeong Yoon-cheol, who directed "Marathon", won the Best New Director award. The movie "Duelist" won the best art and lighting awards.
