There is nothing like a bit of hair-raising horror to chill a hot summer night. KBS' latest series "Korean Ghost Stories" - a spin-off of the cult classic of the same name - promised to bring audiences a bit of bone-chilling relief from the heat. But it looks like the new series may disappoint.
The poor special effects, sets and costumes fail to take this beloved series to the next level. "Korean Ghost Stories" - which first hit living rooms in 1977 via KBS and continued to strike fear into the hearts of audiences through 1999 - has not changed much following its nine-year hiatus. In keeping with tradition, a total of eight tales will start airing tonight. The first episode pays homage to 1997, when "Nine-Tailed Fox" kicked off a series of 26 tales in July. The revamped version of the eponymous tale, however, falls short of today's standards. | The KBS 2TV Drama "Three Dads, One Mom" (Writer Jo Myeong-joo, Producer Lee Jae-sang) saw positive effects from the General Elections. "Three Dads, One Mom" reached record ratings of 11.9% yesterday (TNS Media Korea Survey), ranked second in its time-slot and pushed past the 7.9% ratings of the MBC drama "Who Are You - Drama". The SBS Drama "On Air" has held a constant rating of 20%, but faltered slightly at 19.4% last night. "On Air" and "Who Are You - Drama" broadcast at 10:10 p.m., ten minutes later than their scheduled time due to special programs concerning Korean astronaut Lee So-yeon. "Three Dads, One Mom" began at 9:58 p.m. The increase in ratings for "Three Dads, One Mom" was determined to have started a day earlier on the 9th during the 18th General Elections of Korea. All the other TV dramas in the same time-slot were cancelled due to the special General Election broadcasts, which is when the KBS drama rose from low single-digit ratings to 14.5%.  Eugene (Yoo Jin) becomes the mother of a child and a lucky woman who receives the love of three men--Jo Hyeon-jae, Jae Hee and Sin Seong-rok--one of whom is the father of the baby.The new KBS 2TV (Wed./Thurs.) drama "Three Dads, One Mom" is about a married couple who receives sperm donations from three of the husband's friends. Although the conception is successful, the wife loses her husband suddenly in an accident. The story continues with the wife and the three friends. Eugene plays the role of the widowed mother, "Song Na-young", but this isn't her first role as a mother. In 2005, the actress starred in the MBC drama "Wonderful Life" as a young woman who gets pregnant and thrown into married life after a night of bad judgments.
