[HanCinema's Hall of Fame Review] "3-Iron": Ghosts, Golf, and Silent Love. 2013/12/21, In the Spotlight this Week: "3-Iron" by Kim Ki-duk
Ever get that feeling that someone is watching you? That tingling sensation from one, but you're not quite sure which one, of your senses that makes your ears perk up and your eyes dart around suspiciously. If we were in a horror flick, as we often suspect, it would be at this precise moment-after a crashing crescendo, naturally-that a black cat would spring out from nowhere, an unexpected visitor would burst through a door you were about to open or, get ready to run now, something would violently reveal itself and crystallised your fears. Most of the time we 'snap' out of it, take a gulp of cool rationality and calm ourselves back to, what we believe to be, the sane reality that our personal bubbles and bodies have not, in fact, been violated. It was just our imagination, a glitch in the matrix, or someone running over our future graves. But those uncanny inklings often persist-as they often threaten to do, even if it's just for fleeting instant-and we are prompted to pinch ourselves and remember, and as Kim Ki-duk's "3-Iron" concludes, that "it's hard to tell that the world we live in is either a reality or a dream",...More
[HanCinema's Film Review] "3-Iron" 2013/02/01,
Answers are overrated. "3-Iron", directed by Kim Ki-duk, is a film that defies any attempt at explanation. Oddly, everything that happens makes perfect sense. In literal terms, I could describe to you every individual scene fairly easily. But this information would be deceptive. This is because at every scene we're always left hanging with the question "why?"
The audience isn't alone in confusion. Multiple characters at multiple points demand explanations from stone-faced taciturn individuals, and they're almost always completely frustrated and rebuffed in their quest for an answer,...More
Jae Hee, "It's been three years" 2011/11/15, Source,
Actor Jae Hee (31) is going to star in the Channel A mini-series "Color of Woman". This is the first time in three years that he will appear in a drama, the last being KBS 2TV's "Evil Twin".
He takes on the role of business executive Yoon Joon-soo who has looks, education, talent and everything else. He is manly and pure. He is naïve enough to protect something with his life and takes responsibility for his words and actions. However, there is a loneliness inside him that no one knows about,...More
Will 'Athena' Exceeds Popularity of 'IRIS'? 2010/09/01, Source,
The spy-action drama "ATHENA", in which actor Jeong Woo-seong and actress Soo-ae will appear as the male and female protagonists, will be broadcast from this coming winter in December on SBS. The drama is a spin-off of the original "IRIS" drama and it is based on the original story of the KBS drama "IRIS", which had aired last year on KBS. "ATHENA" is very similar to the original "IRIS" as the production company Taewon Entertainment, which had produced "IRIS", will also produce this drama, and it has been equipped with an all-star cast and large-scale action and melodramatic storyline. But the backdrop of the drama has been expanded from the Korean peninsula and Asian countries into the whole world, and the relationships among cast members have become more complicated,...More

Korean stars at shine at Korean military concert 2010/03/12, Source,

"We all love the Republic of Korea!" It was actor Kim Jae-won who suggested that they all cry out the cringy phrase and TV personality Boom and actor Jo In-Seong complied to the request. To imagine that this quite unlikely mix of celebrities would make such a patriotic remark. But like in Wonderland where abnormal behavior is not regarded as abnormal, here at the concert for military officials hosted by military broadcasting TV station KFN, everything was in harmony and dissolved into one. Even when Tony of H.O.T., Andy of Shinhwa, Jang Su-won and Kim Jae-duc appeared one after another, there was no conflict among the former boy band members,...More
