[Talk of the town] Screening held for Seong Yoo-ri's debut movie

A preview for the upcoming movie "Maybe" was held last Monday at the Lotte Cinema in Myeong-dong, central Seoul. Actors Jang Hyeok and Seong Yoo-ri' attended the event. The film features Sung as May, a Korean-American adoptee who returns to her native country to find her birth parents. During her trip, she meets taxi driver Eun-seol (Jang), who has a rare heart disease that could cause him to die any second. The two build a friendship and help each other out along the way.

Seong Yoo-ri Debuts on Big Screen

Actress Seong Yoo-ri, who has debuted on big screen in the movie "Maybe", recently made the statement, "It was great pressure for me because my face filled the entire screen and my acting was shown to everyone in the world. But we were able to finish the shoot smoothly thanks to the support of the production team. Now it's up to viewers to judge if it was good or not". At the production announcement for the movie on October 5 at Lotte Avenue, Seong introduced herself as a "new actress".

"Maybe" is a story about May, a woman who was adopted in the U.S. when she was young and visited her home country 23 years later in search of her identity. To portray her character, Seong had to perfectly depict the feelings of despair, loss and hope without saying many lines.

Busan Film Fest 2009 Kicks Off In Style

Busan - The 14th edition of the Pusan (Busan) International Film Fstival (PIFF) kicked off Thursday with glitz and glam. Some 150 star cineastes and VIP guests walked the red carpet, sizzling up the cool autumn evening at the seaside resort.

The Busan Yatching Center Outdoor Theater exploded with excitement, as more than the usual number of fans who could not secure seats swarmed the venue outside. Competition was fierce among domestic and foreign press during the photo-op.

Hollywood heartthrob Josh Hartnett and South Korean superstar Lee Byeong-heon stole the limelight as the two "I Come With the Rain" co-stars walked down the red carpet together. Also in the spotlight was actress Kim Yoon-jin, who appeared glamorous in a chic black dress. The "Lost" star attended the PIFF opening ceremony for the first time as the new face of makeup brand L'Oreal, an official partner of the event.

The red carpet is ready to be unrolled for the opening tonight of the 14th Pusan (Busan) International Film Festival (PIFF).

Haeundae Beach in the southern port city will sizzle with the longest ever lineup of 355 films from 70 countries and a VIP guest list featuring more than the usual number of high profile stars and cineastes from near and far.

Fans are invited to take part in not only star-studded screenings and events but also concerts, exhibitions and other eye-catching sideline events.

Star-Gazing

The opening ceremony takes place at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Suyoung Bay Yacht Marina. The 1970s screen siren Jang Mi-hee and "The Chaser" star Kim Yoon-seok will host the event, while top South Korean actors plan to grace the red carpet.
