Actor Producer Director Writer
Biography
Writer/director JANG is known as one of the most distinctive voices to emerge out of the Korean cinema renaissance that began in the late 1990s. From the time he broke into the realm of theatre in 1995 with critically acclaimed plays like < Heotang >, he has developed a unique style that mixes humor, melodrama, and a keen observation of society. JANG's experience in film first began back in 1995 when he assisted with the screenplay of the critically acclaimed < A Hot Roof >. After directing a short film, he dedicated himself to debuting as a film director, and in 1998 his first feature < The Happenings > was screened at the Pusan International Film Festival. JANG's biggest box-office success to date was with < Guns & Talks (2001) >, a comedy about four talkative assassins that was a major hit in Korea, and is also being remade for the Chinese market. Besides these feature films, he also never ceased to participate in short film festivals such as the Environment Film Festival, and the Seoul Human Rights Film Festival.
LEE Hae-joon is attempting his solo feature film directorial debut with the film Kimssi pyoryoogi (English translation: "the adventures of Mr. KIM"). He previously co-directed the acclaimed "Like a Virgin" with LEE Hae-yeong.
The titular character will be played by JEONG Jae-yeong. JEONG's character runs to the Han River in Seoul to commit suicide, but it won't come that far. JEONG previously starred in JANG Jin's "Someone Special" and "Guns and Talks". He is currently in cinemas with "Public Enemy Returns" and "The Divine Weapon".
Mr. KIM's change of plans is due to another KIM, a woman played by JEONG Ryeo-won. JEONG was seen in last year's "2 Faces of My Girlfriend".
Filming started in late August. The film is scheduled for a release in next year.
After LIM Soon-rye's "Forever the Moment", NA Hong-jin's "The Chaser", and KANG Woo-seok's "Public Enemy Returns" KIM Ji-woon's "The Good, the Bad, the Weird" is the fourth Korean film this year to surpass the 4 million spectators landmark.
CJ Entertainment announced that the kimchi western accumulated 4.13 million admissions in just eleven days. "Public Enemy Returns" was in 2008 the second fastest to reach the 4 million mark in 25 days.
2008 started with two unexpected block busters. In the sports drama "Forever the Moment", the Korean women handball team dramatically lost the final at the 2004 Athens Olympics; however they won the number one spot at the box office in early 2008. Korea had not much of a film history in sports dramas before.
An even bigger surprise was the sleeper hit "The Chaser". However, acclaim from critics and viewers for this dark thriller spread around and resulted in so far the most popular film in the running yearwith over 5 million admissions; an im...| More

KANG Woo-seok's third instalment of Public Enemy (Gangcheoljoong: Gonggongui Jeok 1:1) – "Public Enemy Returns" attracted over 4 million spectators. After LIM Soon-rye's "Forever the Moment" (Woori Saengae Chwegoui Soongan) and HA Nong-jin's "The Chaser" (Choogyeokja), "Public Enemy Returns" is the third Korean film to reach the 4 million mark this year.
Public Enemy 3 reached the landmark in less time than his predecessors, only 25 days. CJ Entertainment – the producer of the film – expects that the film will go on to reach 5 million viewers; so far this year, only "The Chaser" managed to achieve that feat.
Public Enemy 3 will see tough competition from this week, with the release of "The Good, the Bad, and the Weird" (Joheun Nom, Nappeun Nom, Isanghan Nom) on over 600 screens.
Public Enemy 3 is this time written by JANG Jin who fed it some of his characteristic humour. SEOL Kyeong-gu ("Oasis") returns as a law enforcer, this time he battles a criminal played by JEONG Jae-...| More

The first Korean blockbuster of the summer, "Public Enemy Returns", opens June 19th, just in time to shake up a national box office that has been dominated by Hollywood fare for several weeks. Director KANG Woo-seok brings forth his third installment in the successful franchise that began with "Public Enemy" in 2002.
Star actor SEOL Kyeong-gu ("Oasis", "Silmido") reprises his original role as Chul-joon, a quick-tempered, tenacious detective on the prowl. SEOL also starred in the 2005 installment, "Another Public Enemy" ("Public Enemy 2"), yet playing a completely different character in that film. The new film was penned by writer-director Jang Jin, bringing his trademark humor and wit to the action feature.
The latest film pits detective Chul-joon against Lee Won-sul (played by JEONG Jae-yeong) the chairman of Geo-seong Group. Lee, an affectionate family man running several seemingly legitimate businesses, is really a longstanding mafia boss at the helm of a criminal ente...| More

In "Public Enemy Returns", the third installment of the police action series by director Kang Woo-suk, the most visible -- and welcome -- change comes from the central character, detective Gang Cheol-jung.
Gang, played by veteran actor Seol Kyeong-gu, still works as a quirky, almost uncontrollable detective who specializes in hunting down the vicious villains. But this time around Gang is much more tenacious: even after he gets stabbed by an attacker and goes through a major surgery, he springs back to his feet and runs after what he sees as "a public enemy".
The enemy is Lee Won-sul (played by Jeong Jae-yeong), chairman of Geo-seong Group. An up-and-coming entrepreneur, chairman Lee runs a host of seemingly legitimate businesses, but his real business remains deeply rooted in his lifelong career of gangster. All of his employees are in fact members of a massive gangster group led by Lee, and their key business is to threaten, stab and kill for money.
