Producers of Popular TV Series 'Mom's Dead Upset' in Dilemma

"Mom's Dead Upset" is a popular drama series on KBS 2TV that boasts a high viewer rating of 30 percent. The producers of the drama, however, are facing a dilemma regarding when to end the series, as the cast and crew of the show are showing signs of fatigue and physical meltdown.

Writer Kim Su-hyun, the pillar of the show, underwent surgery late last year to remove breast cancer. Fortunately, the cancer was at an early stage so the operation was successful, but doctors say that the writer needs to rest.

Producer Jeong Eul-Yeong as well as actresses Kim Hye-ja and Sin Eun-kyeong have been complaining of extreme fatigue.

The show was originally planned to end at episode 69 at the end of September, but the cast of the show are asking to end it at episode 61 at the end of August.

Sin Eun-kyeong Comes to Terms With Her Inner Child

Mothers with grown-up daughters look with some trepidation on the prospect of seeing everyone's favorite movie gangster Sin Eun-kyeong play a lawyer determined to marry a divorced man with a child in KBS2 TV weekend drama "Mom's Dead Upset". In eyes of many, she is an alpha girl, but to her mother (Kim Hye-ja) she is just a pain in the neck who is making the wrong choice.

The character Sin plays is supposed to be strong, yet viewers sympathize with her too. "I can understand her as if she were me", says one comment on an Internet forum. "She is the reason I watch the drama". This may be because there are some overlaps: Sin herself is a divorced mother with a son.

In an interview with the Chosun Ilbo, Sin nods along to these comments. "Right, I may look like a successful woman like (her character) Young-soo, but to my mother I am a troublesome daughter too", she said. "Actually, the drama has made me look back on my life".

The Korea Broadcasting System's weekend drama "Letters to Parents" (written by Kim Soo-hyun and directed by Jeong Eul-yeong), which gripped the hearts of audience members and recorded more than a 30 percent share of viewers, marked its finale yesterday.

Since first airing on October 16 last year without putting up any arousing subjects and settings, the drama got comments that it helped viewers realize the importance of family and humane warmth by simply showing trivial happenings occurring in Vice Principal Ahn's family, composed of Ahn', his wife, and his four sons and daughters.
