Kong Soo-chang's follow-up to "R-Point" is a disappointment

There are hundreds of guide posts (GPs) along the length of the North-South Korean border. South and North Korean troops stationed at them are at a constant state of alert, with heavy artillery pointed at one another. These installations, a cross between a military depot and an underground bunker, are almost self-contained worlds.

One of them, GP 506, has stopped sending messages to headquarters. An experienced MP investigator Sergeant Noh (Cheon Ho-jin, "A Dirty Carnival") and a cynical medical officer (Lee Jeong-heon, "Humming", "Silmido") are sent to find out what happened. They find the troops literally drawn and quartered: the video evidence indicates the murders were committed by Private Kang (Lee Yeong-hoon, "No Regret"), a resident clown and the least likely candidate for going postal.

Stars to enter military service at end of year, 'so busy'

Male stars who are to enter military service at the end of 2008 are busy with last-minute activities. Seong Shi-kyeong and Jo Hyeon-jae are preparing albums, and Eric Moon, Lee Dong-geon, and Kim Rae-won are in dramas.

Jo Hyeon-jae, who ended "Three Dads, One Mom" is busy with Japanese fan meetings and album preparations. He met Japanese fans, in Osaka on the 22nd, Tokyo on the 23rd, and Nagoya on the 27th. He is also secretly preparing an album. His songs he revealed at the Japanese fan meetings, 'Beside You Like the Wind' and 'Words You Said', are ballads that were revealed through soundtracks and digital singles.

Hallyu Wood Draws Attention of Asian Press

Ten major press agencies around Asia flocked to cover the launch of the construction of the Hallyu Wood Theme Park and the Hallyu Wood Start Festival.

A 34-year-old reporter from Hong Kong's cable network CEN spent a busy day interviewing Korean celebrities in Ilsan, the venue of the Hallyu Wood Start Festival. She said that the Hallyu Wood complex will be a great entertainment space for Asian fans of Korean cultural content.

Another reporter from a Japanese cable network program entitled 'Movie Plus' also expressed his hope that Hallyu Wood would become a great venue for cultural exchange.

Jo Hyeon-jae to Hold Fan Meetings in Japan in June

Actor Jo Hyeon-jae, who has emerged as a Hallyu star through his appearances in TV dramas and films, will visit Japan to meet his fans before starting his military duty.

Jo will hold a series of fan meetings in Japan next month. The actor will meet his fans at the Osaka NHK Hall on June 22 and at the Tokyo Nagano Sun Plaza on June 23. He has also invited 400 fans to a dinner show themed " First Love " at the Westin Nagoya Castle Hotel in Nagoya on June 27.

Jo, who was cast alongside Bae Yong-joon and Jeon Do-yeon in the 2003 'Untold Scandal', rose to stardom with his roles in the TV drama series 'Love Letter' and 'Seodongyo'. His upcoming fan meeting will be his first visit to Japan in ten months since his last visit in August last year when he took part in the 'Hallyu Expo" event held at the Tokyo Dome.

KBS Drama at Advantage After General Elections

The KBS 2TV Drama "Three Dads, One Mom" (Writer Jo Myeong-joo, Producer Lee Jae-sang) saw positive effects from the General Elections.

"Three Dads, One Mom" reached record ratings of 11.9% yesterday (TNS Media Korea Survey), ranked second in its time-slot and pushed past the 7.9% ratings of the MBC drama "Who Are You - Drama". The SBS Drama "On Air" has held a constant rating of 20%, but faltered slightly at 19.4% last night.

"On Air" and "Who Are You - Drama" broadcast at 10:10 p.m., ten minutes later than their scheduled time due to special programs concerning Korean astronaut Lee So-yeon. "Three Dads, One Mom" began at 9:58 p.m.

The increase in ratings for "Three Dads, One Mom" was determined to have started a day earlier on the 9th during the 18th General Elections of Korea. All the other TV dramas in the same time-slot were cancelled due to the special General Election broadcasts, which is when the KBS drama rose from low single-digit ratings to 14.5%.
