In 2008, two 'Iljimae's will find the home theater.

The SBS historical drama "Iljimae", starring Lee Joon-ki, will air from the 21st after "On Air". In response, MBC is airing drama "Iljimae", starring Lee Seung-gi, at the end of the year. It is unconventional for two dramas with the same title to air on public television in the same year. Thus, it is inevitable that we compare 'Joon-ki's Iljimae' and 'Seung-gi's Iljimae'.

Fashion Designer Andre Kim to Hold Fashion Show Series

Fashion designer Andre Kim will hold a series of benefit fashion shows, including one at the Deoksugung Palace in Seoul and at Cheongnamdae in Cheongwon, North Chungcheong province.

The designer announced on May 11 that he will hold a fashion show on May 26 at Cheongnamdae, a former country villa for Korean presidents, and invite the foreign diplomatic circle.

Organized by UNICEF Korea, the benefit fashion show will feature foreign diplomatic personnel, other dignitaries and celebrities on the runway donning Kim's elaborate collection.

Among the "diplomat models" are the Russian ambassador to Korea, the Israeli ambassador to Korea, the New Zealand ambassador to Korea, the French ambassador to Korea, the German ambassador to Korea, the Japanese ambassador to Korea, the Norwegian ambassador to Korea and the South African ambassador to Korea, along with their wives. Stars circle back to theater spotlight

Last year, a number of successful male actors returned to the stage after spending years on both the small and big screens. The list of actors who returned to the theater includes Choi Min-sik, a veteran actor who garnered international acclaim through the smash hit movie "Old Boy" (2003), Jo Jae-hyeon who played egocentric Abe (father) in "Kyung-sook, Kyung-sook's Father" and Jo Min-ki who performed in the Korean rendition of the Russian play "The Seagull".

The celebrities on the stage instantly grabbed the media's attention and, of course, drew larger audiences. This year, the stars' return to theaters is likely to continue with seasoned actresses set to test their talents on the stage.

Ha Hee-ra, a veteran actress also known as the wife of top-rated actor Choi Soo-jong, comes back to live theater with a Korean rendition of the Broadway musical "The Goodbye Girl". The show hits the stage at the Baekam Arts Hall in Samseong-dong, southern Seoul, on March 28 through June 15.

Jeong Ae-ri, Jo Min-ki Win Special Volunteer Award

Actors Jeong Ae-ri and Jo Min-ki have been selected as winners of the special volunteer award of the Inter-Parliamentarians for Social Service. The two will receive the award on August 24 at the organization's general meeting that will be held at the Hotel Shilla in Seoul.

Jeong has been providing volunteer services to orphanages since 1989, and participated in events organized to distribute meals to starving children. She has also sponsored starving children in Korea and abroad, and in 2004 visited India to help children who were affected by the deadly tsunami.

Jo is known for his volunteer work in Africa, where he has helped children and malaria patients. He also held a photo exhibition to raise funds to relieve water shortages in African countries. Jo regularly holds briefing sessions on starvation for domestic corporations and industrial groups and raises funds to help starving people.

Lee Hyo-lee to Launch Volunteer Work in Ethiopia

Singer Lee Hyo-lee will visit Ethiopia June 18 for ten days to provide help to needy people in the country wrought by drought and poverty.

Lee will be joined by actor Jo Min-ki. Their efforts will be shown on the KBS TV1 program "Request for Love". The two will also launch a fund-raising campaign to help African children.
